Geely Motor PH officially rolls out Okavango Elite

MANILA: Geely Motor Philippines (GMP) has launched the Okavango Elite - the updated iteration of the company’s three-row sport utility vehicle.

Now retailing at P1.368 million, the updated model’s formal introduction to the local market positions it as a prime option for people looking for an electrified model. And yes, the nameplate now has a “coding-exempt” status from the Land Transportation Office (LTO). 

On the flip side, the company also trimmed down the nameplate’s selection of trims to just one model. 

So, what is the updated Geely Okavango Elite offering for prospective buyers? Here's what we have learned.

Exterior

On the outside, Geely gave the Okavango Elite a lightly updated appearance. For starters, its grille now sports vertical slats, which are now surrounded by a one-piece frame, as opposed to the three-piece frame of the older version. Otherwise, the rest of the three-row model retains the same elegant overall design and body shape as the outgoing model.

Apart from its slight change in appearance, the Okavango Elite comes standard with LED lighting fixtures, heated power-folding side mirrors, a set of 18-inch wheels, rain-sensing wipers, and a power tailgate - among others. 

 Other noteworthy exterior features of the updated seven-seater model include, but are not limited to, the following: 

• Body color door handles
• Shark fin antenna
• Roof-mounted rear spoiler
• Roof rails

Interior

Inside, the model provides a three-row seating configuration capable of fitting up to seven occupants (including the driver). All seats are clad in leather with a diamond-stitched pattern, and everyone inside is kept cool by a triple-zone automatic air-conditioning system with vents for each row.

Entertainment aboard the Okavango Elite is handled by a 12.3-inch infotainment system featuring Mirror Link smartphone connectivity software and Bluetooth. The driver, on the other hand, has access to a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster.

Safety

For safety, the Geely Okavango Elite was fitted with six airbags, ISOFIX, hill-descent control, hill-hold control, a collision oil cut-off system, electronic stability control, anti-lock braking, mechanical child safety lock, 360-degree view camera, parking sensors, tire pressure monitoring, anti-theft system, and many others. 

Powertrain

As mentioned above, the Okavango Elite is now recognized by DOE and the LTO as a hybrid electric vehicle, meaning it is now exempt from the Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP), simply known as “coding”. It also gains numerous advantages from Republic Act No. 11697, alternatively known as the EVIDA law. 

Otherwise, it still uses the same 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-3 engine and 48-volt hybrid system as its predecessor. In total, the said powertrain can dish out 187 hp and 300 Nm of torque. Power is sent to its front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. 

Ride quality and stability for the model are ensured by a MacPherson strut front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension. It was also equipped with front and rear disc brakes, an electronic parking brake, and a drive mode selector (Economy, Normal, and Sport). 

To note, each purchase of the Geely Okavango Elite is also packaged with a five-year, or 150,000 kilometer, whichever comes first, warranty.

Geely EX5

Apart from the Geely Okavango Elite, GMP also made the formal introduction of the Geely EX5. 

To remind readers, it was initially previewed, along with its specifications, back in February 2025. It is positioned as a very comfortable and well-equipped new energy vehicle (NEV) set to compete against the likes of the BYD Atto 3. 

As of this writing, the Geely EX5 currently retails at P1.799 million. 

Geely PH promos 

For a limited time, the Geely EX5 is offered with a P110,000 discount until September 2025. The first 100 buyers of the all-electric crossover are likewise entitled to a Meizu smartphone.

The Geely Okavango Elite, meanwhile, is packaged with a service voucher worth P5,000. It is also offered with a P100,000 off its regular price until December 2025.
