Geely PH partners anew with charity groups for meal donation effort in PGH and Tondo

MANILA: Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP), the official distributor of Geely vehicles in the country, has conducted another round of food distribution in Metro Manila. The company donated around 100 kilos of fish to various charity groups including Walang Iwanan Alliance, Kawa Pilipinas, and Heaven’s Touch Cuisine.

The charity groups turned out the loads of fish into meals that were given away to hundreds of people at the Philippine General Hospital and to the victims of fire in Tondo, Manila.

Wheng Clemente, a fisherfolk from Bulacan, provided the loads of fish that were donated to the charity groups. Last month, she also gave over a hundred kilos of fish to SGAP in exchange for used Geely billboard tarpaulins to be used for their fishery business. SGAP also donated the kilos of fish to its partner charity groups for their feeding programs.

According to the Rapid Nutrition Assessment Survey conducted by the Department of Science Technology (DOST) from November 2 to December 3, 2020, 62.1% of 5,717 households that were surveyed nationwide experienced moderate to severe food insecurity. It also revealed that six out of 10 Filipino households were either at risk or actually suffering from insufficient consumption to meet nutritional requirements.

In a statement, SGAP Marketing Manager Ryan Isana said, “Hunger is one of the serious problems our society is battling against especially during this time of global crisis. We are humbled by the opportunities we get to be able to help even in small ways.”

Hunger has become one of the major problems of some Filipino families during the pandemic since more people lose their sources of income.

SGAP aims to alleviate the food security challenges that the country needs to address by helping charity groups in conducting meal donation drives.
