Grab x DA for on-demand delivery and marketplace

MANILA: Ride-hailing and logistics platform Grab has partnered with the Department of Agriculture (DA) in supporting the livelihood of "agripreneurs" and farmers amid the crisis that the COVID-19 pandemic has brought to the country. This is through the GrabExpress on-demand delivery service, whereby fresh meats and farm produce can be brought to the houses of consumers in Metro Manila from the e-Kadiwa website (http://www.ekadiwa.da.gov.ph/) of the DA.

This project is under the “Kadiwa ni Ani at Kita Program” of DA, a market system that assists in the selling of essential agricultural commodities at affordable costs to the consumers. The project is also in collaboration with the private sector and the local government units (LGUs) of Metro Manila.

The GrabExpress initiative serves as an opportunity for consumers who are not able to go to the grocery stores and wet markets to have access to local farm produce from DA partner agripreneurs like Benjabi, Zagana, and Ani Express.

Grab Philippines is dedicated to supporting the vision of the DA in unleashing the potentials of agripreneurship and agriculture through innovation and technology. DA will be responsible for buying fresh produce from food growers and farmers, abolishing the need for middlemen. This allows food growers and farmers to earn more fairly from their hard work.

The integration of the services of Grab Philippines in bringing access to local farm produce aims to revolutionize technology and assist Filipinos in coping with the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, it also aims to boost economic opportunities for local farmers, to develop livelihood opportunities even for farmers worldwide, and to relieve the rising concerns regarding food security.

Grab also has high hopes that the fresh farm produce can reach numerous places in the country through the massive delivery network and advanced technology of GrabExpress.
