GWM PH ready to launch Haval H9 on Feb. 4

MANILA: Great Wall Motor (GWM) Philippines, under the management of Luxuriant Automotive Group Incorporated (LAGI), is scheduled to roll out the all-new Haval H9 on February 4, 2026. 

The aforementioned was shared by the company with Zigwheels Philippines and other members of the motoring media during a preview event of the off-road sport utility vehicle (SUV) in Baoding, China.

To note, the GWM Haval H9 was previously showcased at the 2025 Manila International Auto Show. Additionally, the brand’s local arm has already published the vehicle’s Philippine specifications on its website, and it was likewise included in Zigwheels Philippines’ list of “vehicles we’re excited to see this 2026.”

Moreover, the brand’s local arm is now accepting pre-orders for the upcoming SUV with a reservation fee of P5,000. 

For now, the GWM’s local arm remains mum with regard to the all-new nameplate’s local pricing, so, for now, let’s check out what we can expect from this up-and-coming model.

GWM Haval H9: specs, features

According to GWM Philippines’ official website, the Haval H9 is a ladder-frame SUV that’s propelled by a 2.4-liter turbodiesel engine paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. 

At maximum, the said powertrain can generate up to 178 horsepower and 480 Newton-meters of torque. 

For off-road performance, the model was kitted out with a torque-on-demand 4x4 system managed by multiple drive modes, including standard, economy, mud, sand, and sport. Also available from the GWM model is a dedicated 4x4-low mode for particularly difficult terrain, up to 800 millimeters of wading depth, and a 3,050-kilogram towing capacity. 

Stopping power for the GWM-made SUV is provided by front and rear discs. Ride quality and handling, meanwhile, are managed by front double wishbone and rear multi-link suspension systems. 

The exterior of the upcoming GWM Haval H9 features a boxy classic-SUV shape with modern touches. It has an expansive grille, square-framed LED headlamp clusters, and beefy wheel arches. Contrasting these are a relatively smooth side section, as well as quiet-looking, straight-cut front and rear bumpers. 

Concerning size, the GWM Haval H9 touches on the full-size SUV category with these measurements:

Safety-wise, the GWM Haval H9’s kit is comprised of six airbags, brake assist, anti-lock braking, traction control, tire pressure monitoring, cruise control, hill-descent control, hill start assist, automatic fuel cut-off function, 540-degree view camera, and electronic brake-force distribution - among others.
