Honda Civic gains “Best Car for the Money” award in US

MANILA: The Honda Civic has attained the “Best Car for the Money” award from the United States (US) News and World Report’s 2025 new car rankings. 

The publication hailed the Honda-made sedan as the best value for the quality within the compact car segment. In the context of the award, quality is measured by an overall score derived from factors such as safety and reliability, as well as the input of US-based industry experts. 

Value, on the other hand, was measured by the US study by determining a given car model’s five-year total cost of ownership and the average price paid for the vehicle at the time the accolade was awarded. For reference, the US-spec Honda Civic is priced at $25,100 or around P1.465 million in current exchange rates. 

Other Honda vehicles in the US market have likewise attained the following awards from US News and World Report: 

• Honda Accord - Best Mid-size car for the money
• Honda Passport - Best two-row sports utility vehicle for the money
• Honda Odyssey - Best minivan for the money

While the models detailed in the list above are not available locally, the 11th-generation Honda Civic is sold in the Philippine market with a price ranging from P1.6 million-P1.99 million. 

The top-of-the-line Philippine-spec trim of the Honda-made sedan is the RS e:hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), and it utilizes a 2.0-liter inline-4 gasoline mill paired with an electric motor, a lithium-ion battery, and an electrical continuously variable transmission (eCVT). 

Other notable features of the locally available hybrid Civic include leather-upholstered seats, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, rain-sensing wipers, a Bose 12-piece speaker system, and a nine-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto - among others.
