Is this the new 600 LT Spider?
MANILA: “LT”, better known as “Longtail” exhausts are generally associated with performance beasts, especially from the stables of McLaren. The British car maker used the suffix LT first with the McLaren F1 GTR LT. The term was then gifted with a second life when it was used with the 675 LT, 675 LT Spider, and the 600 LT in the year 2015. The term LT further signifies mean-performance and the cars which get the suffix are made to be lighter, faster, and much more aerodynamic when compared to the stock variants of the similar vehicles.
On the 16th of January, which is just about a week ahead, McLaren will be pulling covers off the latest beast with the Longtail. The British automaker has released a 13-second video of the would be the next LT. Launched in July 2018, the 600LT will be used as the foundation of the newest longtail. The hardcore performer is expected to be a the drop-top Spider version.
A folding soft-top or a retractable metal roof would be fitted on the car. The power will be provided by a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 which is capable enough to throw out a maximum power of 600 PS and 620 Nm of peak torque. The convertible from McLaren should be getting a fair amount of carbon-fibre treatment in order to reduce the weight. Some aerodynamic changes are also expected to improve the downforce and the air-flow.
We just can’t wait for the unveiling of this Longtail. Would you be able to keep your patience until 16th of January?
