Jaecoo J5 HEV enters PH; preview set for Q1

MANILA: Omoda and Jaecoo Motor Philippines Incorporated (OJPH) has announced the entry of the J5 Hybrid Electric Vehicle in the country.

In an interview, OJPH Marketing Manager Fritz Gerald De Ocampo confirmed that the model’s initial units have already reached the local ports — signaling its upcoming launch soon.

While nameplate’s formal launch has yet to be shared, de Ocampo told Zigwheels Philippines that the model will have its preview within the initial quarter of the year.

According to the company’s statement, the arrival of the model serves as a strategic milestone that officially completes the brand’s comprehensive new energy vehicle lineup in the Philippines — joining its plug-in hybrid and battery electric-powered stablemates.

OJPH shared that the Jaecoo J5 entered the country after enjoying strong appreciation from the other markets. The company mentioned that it achieved a “double championship” In Thailand last November (ranking first in sales and registrations within its sector) while it got more than 10,000 pre-orders in Indonesia in its first month there.

“This global momentum now lands in Manila, where the J5 HEV is poised to become the premier choice for first-time hybrid buyers looking for world-class quality and accessible innovation,” OJPH claimed.

Here are some bits of information about the Jaecoo J5 HEV:

The yet-to-be-launched product is said to deliver fuel consumption of 18.8 kilometers per liter, and a range of more than 1,000 kilometers.

Its powertrain combination has the capacity to provide a combined churn of

Maximum output (in horsepower)	221
Peak torque (in Newton-meters)	295

Assuring vehicle stability and comfort are the four-link independent suspensions.

Further, OJPH said that its interior is TÜV SÜD-certified and pet-friendly, thanks to its antibacterial and scratch-resistant materials as well as a curated selection of car-compatible pet accessories.

These include:

• Specialized boarding steps for smaller companions
• Dedicated pet-feeding system
• Secure trunk barriers

"We are bringing the J5 HEV to the Philippines to prove that high-value hybrid mobility is a choice available to all," de Ocampo explained.

"By completing our NEV lineup, we are ensuring that every Filipino has access to the most advanced, sustainable, and reliable automotive technology today," he concluded.
