Jaguar set to enter 2016-17 All-electric Formula E season

MANILA: Jaguar is prepared to join the upcoming 2016-17 Formula E season, starting its career with the global motorsport. For the upcoming 2016-17 season, the renowned automaker Jaguar is likely to replace the outgoing Trulli team. This was confirmed by Nick Rogers, Group Engineering Director of Jaguar Land Rover.

Rogers’ comments, "I am feeling happy to announce Jaguar’s participation in the 2016-17 FIA Formula E championship. The electric vehicles will bring a revolution and display Jaguar’s portfolio. The Formula E is an opportunity for us to make develop future electric cars loaded with surplus technologies.”

Jaguar has also partnered with Williams Advanced engineering in order to get informed about the motorsport. Williams holds a very good relationship with Jaguar and it is going to be the technical partner for the Formula E campaign. Williams has also agreed to provide full support in the development of the plug-in hybrid concept car, C-X75. Formula E races around 11 championship events in 10 locations globally. The first season witnessed all teams with identical cars, but according to the recent regulations, the manufacturers can use their own powertrain now.

Moreover, the Formula E CEO Alejandro Agag stated that, "It’s our privilege to welcome Jaguar to the Formula E. Jaguar is returning to the global motorsport and this will be a good opportunity to endorse the development of future electric cars.”

It is a comeback for Jaguar in the global motorsport, as it left it in 2004. However, the detailed information regarding Jaguar’s drivers, team presentation, and supporting partners will be introduced in the Formula E’s 3rd season. Looking to Jaguar’s expectation from the Formula E, it may also encourage other carmakers to join.
