JLR Case Dismissed, Landwind X7 Goes on Sale

MANILA : Famous as the 'copy maker', Chinese market never loses an opportunity to copy an on-going successful product, and time and again it has justified the title bestowed to it by the world. After electronic items ranging from mobile phones to television, Chinese copy masters now plan to replicate the renowned Jaguar Range Rover, and guess what, no one has the audacity to stop them. As the Chinese government, like always is ready to protect these manufacturers with their protective shield, by giving no room to the Intel actual Property law in their not so big constitution.

It's the Range Rover Evoque that is all set to receive its Chinese twin sibling that will go by the name of Landwind X7. Displayed last year at the Guangzhou Motor Show, the Landwind X7 was seen as a true follower of its mate, both from the exterior and interior front. Obviously, JLR was red-faced over this move, but was helpless as Chinese authorities have dismissed the case and with no further recourse X7 is ready to go on sale from next month.

Ralf Speth, CEO of JLR, who felt powerless at the moment said that, “The simple principal is that it is not something that should happen; the Intellectual Property is owned by Jaguar Land Rover and if you break that IP then you are in breach of international regulations that apply around the world.” Further he advised the Chinese manufacturer to use their creativity and talent to produce something original, as they hold potential and caliber to do the same.

As for now JLR only hopes that the customers to see the differences with a eagle’s eye and make a smart and educated choice between the products. They also hope to generate a self-regulation process, so as to mark an end to this copy-paste game.

Despite the striking similarities which the two models share, there is one specific area that is the price tag which marks the difference between the two. Whereas, the actual Evoque lists from about $62,000 in China, the LandWind X7 will carry an asking price of just $14,000. This episode is included among various case that were failed to receive justice from Chinese law maker.
