JMS 2023: Honda introduces Prelude Concept, innovative mobility solutions

MANILA: Honda is showcasing the present and the future of its diverse range of mobility at the Japan Mobility Show 2023.

The Prelude nameplate has been revived by Honda through a new specialty sports model concept. The Prelude Concept is a hybrid vehicle that serves as a prototype for a future model that upholds Honda’s steadfast sports spirit and extends the “joy of driving” into the era of full-scale electrification.

Another concept car unveiled by Honda at the Japan Mobility Show is the Sustaina-C, a vehicle made from recycled acrylic resin.

The Cruise Origin also made its debut at the event. Jointly developed by Honda, General Motors, and Cruise, this self-driving car can be hailed by passengers through a smartphone app. A self-driving taxi service using the Cruise Origin will be launched in Japan in 2026.

Also displayed at the auto show is the CI-MEV, a two-seat, four-wheel electric vehicle that provides easy last-mile mobility for anyone.

The Uni-One hands-free seated personal mobility device is also exhibited at the event.

A full-size interior mockup of the HondaJet Elite II light business jet and a one-fifth-size exterior mockup of the Honda electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft (eVTOL) are also featured at the Japan Mobility Show. According to Honda, these air mobility vehicles free passengers from the constraints of space and enable three-dimensional movement.

All these concept cars and mobility solutions are exhibited at the Japan Mobility Show 2023 until November 5 at Tokyo Big Sight.
