Lamborghini PH rolls out latest Urus version

MANILA: Lamborghini Philippines has officially rolled out the latest version of the Urus. This all-around sports utility vehicle (SUV) is made more powerful and capable of conquering any terrain, from asphalt to sand, ice to mud, dirt to gravel.

The Lamborghini Urus comes with six different driving modes. Each mode adjusts the SUV’s setup based on the driving style and road condition.

Located in the center console is a driving mode selector that lets the driver choose from Strada, Sport, Corsa, Neve (snow), Terra (off-road), and Sabbia (sand) settings. The Strada mode adjusts the vehicle height based on the speed to enhance comfort. In Sport mode, the SUV lowers down to ensure stability and precision at all speeds. On the other hand, Corsa mode makes the Urus more precise and performance-oriented by keeping body roll to the absolute minimum.

The Neve, Terra, and Sabbia modes give the SUV higher ground clearance to let it safely conquer obstacles. The vehicle also comes with anti-roll bars to provide independent asymmetric movement during cornering to achieve the best traction. An electromechanical active roll stabilization system is also used to reduce roll angle on bumpy surfaces and enable responsive steering. The Urus also has a specially tuned damping system that comes with new damper valves which adjusts to different driving conditions.

The adaptive dampers automatically adjust based on the driving mode. It can also be fully customized by the driver.

The Urus is powered by a 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V8 engine that generates 650hp at 6,000rpm and 850Nm between 2,250 and 4,500rpm. The SUV can accelerate from standstill to 100kph in 3.5 seconds and on to 200kph in 12.8 seconds. It has a top speed of 305kph.

The Urus is the first Lamborghini to use a turbocharged engine, making it the most suitable for off-road driving. The engine’s force-induction method can produce high torque at low revs.

The engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission with very short low gear ratios, longer high gear ratios, a slip-controlled converter lock-up clutch, and a specially designed torque converter. This combination enables fast responses and rapid acceleration. It also helps the Urus achieve high speeds at low engine revs, resulting in less fuel consumption and emissions.

The Urus also comes with a four-wheel drive system and a Torsen central self-locking differential that give maximum control and agility in all driving situations. This differential sends up to 70% of torque to the front axle and up to 87% to the rear axle. The vehicle also comes with an active torque vectoring system that disseminates power to each wheel.

The Urus recently demonstrated its outstanding performance in a 6,500-km drive across Japan. The month-long expedition was composed of 17 stages starting from Fukuoka to Hiroshima, Kobe, Osaka, Nagoya, Kanazawa, Yamagata, Akita, Hokkaido, Sendai, Yokohoma, up to Tokyo. The journalists who joined the expedition were able to explore the beauty and dynamism of Japan while experiencing the versatility of the Urus.

The Urus also showcased its capabilities in the recent Red Bull X-Alps. The SUV served as the personal support vehicle of two-time world paragliding champion Aaron Durogati, who competed by “hike and fly” to cover the 1,238-km Alpine course in the fastest time possible. The race passed through checkpoints across Austria, Germany, Switzerland, France, and Italy, then back to Austria. The Urus allowed Durogati’s support team to follow him throughout the race.

With the high load capacity, premium comfort, and super sports dynamics that the Urus offers, it can surely conquer any road without a fuss.
