MIAS 2022 to be physically staged from Apr. 7 to 10

MANILA: The Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) will be physically staged once again at the World Trade Center, Pasay City, from April 7 to 10, 2022. 

In 2020, "MIAS Wired" was held virtually due to the restrictions brought by the COVID-19 pandemic. 

“(Your) favorite car show in Manila is back to show you the latest car launches, jaw-dropping car designs, and more at MIAS!” read the event announcement on the MIAS Facebook page.

The pre-registration for interested attendees will be open soon, the Facebook post added. 

This year's auto show is organized by the Worldbex Services International. MIAS co-organizer Alvin Uy explained why they decided to do a physical show this year.

"(Since MIAS Wired), car dealerships have been allowed to open again, so we felt that our first attempt on holding a virtual auto show has served its purpose," Uy said to ZIGWHEELS PHILIPPINES.

"Many car brands have also installed their own virtual showrooms in their websites as well," he added. 

According to the MIAS website, the car brands that participated in the 2020 event included Chevrolet, Geely, Hyundai, Jeep, and Subaru, among others.  

A contest for and display of classic and customized cars were also staged in the previous MIAS. 

Uy said that for the 2022 MIAS, the event organizers aim to attract a significant number of exhibitors and visitors.

“In 2019, we have over 200 companies who joined — including car manufacturers and distributors," Uy told ZIGWHEELS PHILIPPINES sibling brand Carmudi Philippines. "This year, we hope to achieve at least 80 to 90% of the 2019 figures.

"As to the visitors, we had over 142,000 visitors that year. We are targeting at least 70-percent of it, or about 100,000 visitors,” he added. 

“With the improving current situation and lower number of new cases...increasing number of vaccinated individuals...we are confident that we can already stage the MIAS once again after a two-year hiatus," Worldbex Managing Director Jill Ang was quoted as saying. 

The 2022 MIAS will follow the safety guidelines of the new normal, Ang assured.
