Mitsubishi PH gets 'safety seal' from DOLE

MANILA: Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (MMPC) received a Safety Seal certification from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) last November 18.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What is Safety Seal?

The Safety Seal certifies that a business establishment adheres to the government’s public health standards and/or has successfully connected with StaySafe.ph, the country’s centralized contact tracing database. This national program seeks to restore public confidence in an effort to gradually reopen the economy.
  • For how long will the Safety Seal be valid?

The Safety Seal will be valid for six months. After the aforementioned period, all Safety Seal holders will be required to apply for renewal and go through the DOLE’s stringent inspection process all over again.
  • The Safety Seal certifies that a business establishment adheres to the government’s public health standards and/or has successfully connected with StaySafe.ph, the country’s centralized contact tracing database. MMPC is qualified in both of these areas. This national program, which is supported by other sectoral offices such as the Department of Health (DOH), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Tourism (DOT), and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), seeks to restore public confidence in an effort to gradually reopen the economy.

In a statement, MMPC President and Chief Executive Officer Takeshi Hara said, “Mitsubishi has always put a premium on safety, not just in the engineering of our cars but also in the way we conduct business. That is why MMPC, being the longest staying automotive company in the country, wants to do its part to be alongside Filipinos transitioning into the new normal. We make it a point to maintain only the highest standards when it comes to health and safety at the workplace. Through it, we create a space with minimal hazards that enable positivity and productivity among our employees.”

The Safety Seal will be valid for six months. It includes MMPC’s Sta. Rosa Plant and Parts Warehouse in the Greenfield Automotive Park–Special Economic Zone (GAP-SEZ). After the aforementioned period, all Safety Seal holders will be required to apply for renewal and go through the DOLE’s stringent inspection process all over again.

“COVID-19 has taught us many important lessons; one in particular is the importance of emotional wellbeing. Through our newly issued DOLE certification, we want to offer peace of mind and assure our customers, partners and the general public that Mitsubishi Motors takes safety very seriously,” Hara added.

This is one of aspects of MMPC’s new slogan, “Life Made Better.” The company is taking a more comprehensive approach to provide value at every stage of a Filipino’s car ownership journey and fulfill its commitment to the country’s economic development.
