Next-generation Honda Jazz will come out at 2019 Tokyo Motor Show
MANILA: The Honda Jazz is without a hair of a doubt one of the better hatchbacks available in the global market. While the first-generation Honda Jazz made its way out on the roads around the world in 2001, the newest update in the form of the “third-generation” was launched in 2013 which featured a brand new platform called GK.
Today, it has been good six years since the Honda Jazz had undergone a significant overhaul. Six years is a long, long time and considering the rapid pace at which the automobile industry is evolving, the Jazz is due for a major update.
Addressing the needful, Honda has reported that the next-generation Jazz will finally come out in the flesh at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show. So, what all changes will the new Jazz come boasting? Well, while most of the information remains undisclosed, Honda has announced that the newest iteration of the Jazz will come housing the brand-new i-MMD hybrid system.
It is a setup that comprises of dual motors and is already present on the Honda CR-V in the European market. The move is a significant one and a step closer towards the Japanese automaker’s aim of electrification of its vehicles by 2025.
So, with the new Honda Jazz set to be a hybrid hatch, the internal combustion engine under the hood could still be the same 1.5-litre unit. However, we should not rule out the possibilities of the updated Jazz getting a three-cylinder turbocharged unit. Coming to the aesthetic aspect, we expect the next-generation Honda Jazz to follow the same design language as the current-gen model with a few changes here and there.
With the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show still, quite far away, all we can do is hold our horses and maybe wait for a couple of leaks before the hatch is displayed at the mega event. Moreover, once the 2020 Honda Jazz is showcased at the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show, we expect the new hatch to be a part of the 2020 Philippines International Auto Show as well. Are you excited for the all-new Jazz? We bet you are. If you're out in the market for a sexy hatch, Honda Philippines recently launched the all-new Brio in the country.
