Nissan poised for Terrano launch already?
Spy shots show SUV remain faithful to concept model
MANILA: Nissan Motor Corporation Limited looks like it’s nearly ready to release the Terrano sport utility vehicle (SUV).
KEY TAKEAWAYS
What design features can be expected from the production-ready Nissan Terrano?
The production version remains remarkably faithful to the concept car shown at Auto China 2026, sporting minimal changes despite mild camouflage. Why is the Nissan Terrano PHEV likely to launch in the Philippines?
Several strategic factors make a local release for the Nissan Terrano plug-in hybrid (PHEV) highly probable, like brand nostalgia, PHEV alignment strategy, and confidence in China-sourced vehicles. Not too long ago, the returning nameplate made an appearance at Auto China 2026, where it was presented as a concept car.
After spy shots were leaked by Instagram user nissanarabian (who captioned the images “Coming to the Middle East markets next year”), the vehicle appears to be undergoing final testing and nearing its official launch.

What to expect
Comparing the uploaded photos to the presented prototype, it looks like very little—if anything—was changed.
While it is sparsely wrapped in camouflage skin, one can make out the boxy fascia with the three horizontal slots at the fore. The grillework is decorated with the “NISSAN” lettering, with a very robust-looking bumper rounding up the features at the front.
The side profile follows the same design language with thick cladding on the wheel arches and side sills. Its windows are relatively squarish, and the roof rails seem to stick out of the concealment decals.
Its rear is fitted with a side-opening tailgate, where the spare tire is mounted. Other visible features include its taillights, chunky bumper, and the “TERRANO” nameplate.
The cabin gets a four-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, an automatic gear shifter, and a rotary knob—probably for activating its four-wheel drivetrain—with buttons that look like selectors for the drive modes.
Its seats and other surfaces look like they are finished with leather and some soft-touch materials.
A photo of the engine bay was also uploaded, which gives us a glimpse of the powerplant that will propel the SUV.
Will it reach the PH?
There is a strong possibility that the Nissan Terrano PHEV will make its way to the Philippines.
First, the nameplate was once offered in the country, and releasing a familiar model would give the brand some nostalgic advantage over the competition.
Second, Nissan Philippines is clearly aware of the former since it is set to release the Navara Pro PHEV within the year.
Third, the leadership of the brand is confident in its China-made products, and the Nissan Terrano PHEV will undoubtedly be produced there.
