Oil firms to jack up diesel, gas prices this week

MANILA: Oil companies in the Philippines will implement price hikes for diesel and gasoline products at the pump this week.

According to the Department of Energy, fuel prices are increasing due to movements in the global oil market, particularly amid ongoing tensions and instability in the Middle East, which continue to affect global oil supply and pricing.According to the Department of Energy (DOE), the retail price of diesel is set to reflect a P2.82-per-liter increase while gasoline will have a P1.21-per-liter increase.
Meanwhile, firms that offer kerosene will cut down the product’s pricing by P2.21 per liter.
According to the energy department, the adjustments—which will become effective starting tomorrow (May 19)— are based on the movement of the global oil market, amid the ongoing crisis in the Middle East.

Last week, oil players already added P0.47 per liter to prices of gasoline products but reduced the price of diesel by P9.57 per liter and kerosene by P13.30 per liter.
Prior to this, Shell Pilipinas Corporation started rolling out fuel discounts nationwide.
From last Friday (May 15) until Thursday (May 21), the company shall provide discounts to customers purchasing fuels at participating Shell stations nationwide.

Under the said period, buyers of gasoline will be accorded with a P5-per-liter discount on gasoline with a minimum single-receipt purchase of P1,500 ( maximum discount of P200) for four-wheelers or a minimum single-receipt purchase of P 200 (or maximum of P200) for motorcycles.

Further, Shell continues to honor the P10-per-liter discount on diesel for public utility vehicle drivers given through the Department of Energy’s fuel subsidy program.
