Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak Replica Showcased At PIMS 2016

MANILA: The French automaker, Peugeot has been quite prominent in producing competitive sports cars for some time and at the ongoing 6th Philippine International Motor Show, the automaker has displayed its Motorsports DNA in its 208 GTI model. In order to celebrate the rich motorsports heritage of the company, Peugeot is displaying two 208 GTI with body kit and livery inspired by the 208 T16 Pikes Peak. T16 stands for Turbocharged and 16-valves and its inspiration, the 208 T16 Pikes Peak has some interesting facts attached to it. The 208 T16 was the winner in the Pikes Peak International Hillclimb race, which is also known as the Race to the clouds, and Peugeot achieved victory in this race after a wait of 24 years. The Pikes Peak Hillclimb has a course that measures 19.99 km with 156 turns. The drivers have to start at 1,440 m, Mile 7 on Pikes Peak Highway to finish the race at 4,300 m. But, in between the path is mix of asphalt and gravel, as well as the dwindling air pressure further intensify the driving conditions.

The replica of this prominent model bears the characteristic large chin and tail spoilers which helps the car in producing high downforce that helps in keeping the car on the road at higher elevations and lower air pressures. It also features Red Bull livery on sides and at front triangular shapes have been painted black to resemble the hood exhaust vents on the actual rally car.
