Porsche tallies 145,860 deliveries in H1

MANILA: Despite a number of challenges, Porsche maintained good delivery numbers in the first half of 2022. Between January and June, the sports car manufacturer shipped 145,860 automobiles to customers all around the world, just a five-percent decrease over the same period last year.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • How many vehicles did Porsche deliver to the Asia Pacific, Africa, and Middle East?

Total deliveries to Porsche customers in the Asia-Pacific region, Africa, and the Middle East reached 62,245 vehicles.
  • What are Porsche's best-selling vehicles?

SUV vehicles continue to be in particularly high demand. A total of 41,947 clients in total received a Cayenne. The Macan came in second with 38,039 deliveries.
  • “We and our dealers have successfully navigated a first half-year shaped by external factors and uncertainties,” said Detlev von Platen, Board Member for Sales and Marketing at Porsche AG.

“In addition to the difficulties posed by the resurgence of the COVID pandemic in China and other markets, ongoing supply-chain- and logistics-related challenges have accompanied us. At the same time, the desirability of our brand and popularity of our products remains strong. We expect the second half-year to be dynamic. As in previous years, we are optimistic about the future and determined to go full steam ahead with the remaining months of the year.”

The first half of the year's global market conditions were diverse, and as a result, the delivery rates for the various markets and regions are uneven. Porsche vehicle deliveries increased to 43,087 in Europe. That represents a 7% gain over the previous strong quarter year over year. The German domestic market is the same. In the first half of 2022, there were 13,785 deliveries, which indicates a 5% increase over the previous year.

Despite months-long lockdowns in some cities, Porsche was nevertheless able to deliver 40,681 vehicles to clients in China. Deliveries decreased by 16% in the first half of the year compared to the previous one. Given the general downturn in China's premium/luxury market (down 23% from January to May), the sports car manufacturer's performance in its biggest single market was still excellent.

Total deliveries to Porsche customers in the Asia-Pacific region, Africa, and the Middle East were 62,245 vehicles. Porsche faced delivery and transportation challenges in the US, but nevertheless managed to deliver 32,529 automobiles to clients. In contrast to this figure, the same period last year had the strongest half-year ever.

SUV vehicles continue to be in particularly high demand. A total of 41,947 clients in total received a Cayenne. The Macan came in second with 38,039 deliveries. A total of 21,616 consumers throughout the world received the iconic 911 sports vehicle. Despite production restrictions brought on by supply-chain bottlenecks, which particularly affected the all-electric Porsche, the Taycan was delivered to 18,877 consumers.

    2021 Porsche Panamera design

A total of 15,604 Panameras were shipped out to consumers, compared to 9,777 each of the 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman models.

“We are heading into the third quarter full of energy and optimism and, in addition to deliveries, we continue to focus on unique brand experiences for our customers,” added von Platen.
