Porsche Taycan EV conquers flooded street in Dubai

MANILA: A Porsche Taycan electric vehicle (EV) was recently spotted conquering a flooded street in Dubai.

Tiktok user zubair_khan44 shared clips of a white Porsche Taycan braving what could possibly be above-knee water. The first clip, which you can watch here, showed the EV nearly floating as it struggled to get traction as the water was already reaching the sports sedan’s door handles.

In the second clip, which you can view here, the white electric car was seen moving forward and making it to safety.

The first video (23 seconds long) garnered 2.6 million views while the second (12 seconds long) one got 2.1 million views.

The said feat easily not only displayed how confident the driver is with his or her electric car but also the engineering prowess of the German-made EV.

Porsche Taycan in PH

In the Philippines, the Porsche Taycan is sold either as a sedan called Sports Saloon or a wagon dubbed Cross Turismo.

The locally available Sports Saloon model, similar to the one in the video, can be had in six variants, namely the base Porsche Taycan, Taycan 4S, Taycan Turbo, Taycan Turbo S, Taycan Turbo GT, and Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach package.

Porsche’s base model Taycan is fitted with the brand’s E-Performance Powertrain with a permanent magnet synchronous motor on the rear axle. It can produce up to 402 horsepower with 410 Newton-meters of torque. Speed peaks at 230 kilometers per hour.

Estimated range of the Porsche Taycan here in the Philippines is approximately 503-590 kilometers.

The 89-kilowatt-hour battery can be charged up to 80 percent using a direct current charger in just 46 minutes. Meanwhile, an alternating current charging system will fill the battery up to 100 percent in 10.5 hours.
