Roll Royce Aluminium Space-Frame Architecture to Underpin Either a Phantom or Cullinan

MANILA: Rolls Royce Aluminium Space -Frame Architecture is the 'new thing' the company will initiate in 2016. The idea was hinted by Rolls Royce back in early 2015 when the officials made it clear to incorporate a new architectural style in all its future products. Back then Rolls-Royce also inked towards a new car that ‘can cross any terrain’.

Now, the big dilemma lingering over its fans is whether they’ll get to see the Space-Frame Architecture methodology under a Rolls Royce Phantom or a new 2018 Cullinan. Now, if you are wondering how these two cars came into the picture, then reading further will clear your mind’s muddy waters. Back in September, during the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, we informed you that Rolls-Royce has confirmed 2018 Cullinan, an SUV speculated to be built on Aluminium Space-frame Architecture. But what the company recently showed as its new chassis testing mule, looked closer to Rolls Royce Phantom.

This situation hints towards many possibilities, firstly there is a possibility that both cars will underpin the new Aluminium Space-frame Architecture. Secondly, it is possible that Rolls-Royce has changed its initial Cullinan plans or it is also possible that the Phantom mule is just for testing and will not enter actual production phase. Well, the possibilities are endless which will get cleared by the luxury brand’s next move.

Rolls-Royce CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös maintained the proximity over the issue and mentioned nothing about the model in his speech. He said, “I am announcing today that on-road testing of our all-new proprietary architecture is beginning, this new architecture of pure luxury represents a considerable investment in the future of our great brand.”

Many of you may be wondering, what exactly is Aluminium Space-frame Architecture. Well, it's an architectural concept famous amongst the engineers and architectures, under which aluminium is used a major component (as can be traced from the name). The struts are designed in triangular formations that help even distribution of force along each strut. Thus, making the car strong, and at the same time a slim piece of beauty.

As for Rolls Royce, they have started testing the mule on different road conditions, to check whether the new space frame adequately incorporates the magic carpet ride, for which its cars are known worldwide.

So, get ready for an ultra-expensive, ultra-luxurious SUV (what we thing, it will be) from Rolls-Royce that is under preparation to surpass the recently launched Bentley Bentayga. As Rolls Royce stated at 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, “The Bentley SUV is clearly the No. 2; Rolls-Royce is the best in the world and will be when our model arrives. We will bring a great new car, and an authentic Rolls Royce into the market.”
