MANILA: Hyundai has recently added a third body style to its i30 lineup and revealed the all-new fastback avatar. The car will make its market debut in early 2018 and lock its horns against the likes of Mazda 3 Fastback. Featuring a lower nose, sleeker roofline and the rear of a coupe, the i30 Fastback is eye-catchy. The Fastback version is 115mm longer and 5mm lower to the ground over the hatchback version. With the inclusion of a slimmer glass-line, the overall height of the all-new i30 Fastback is reduced by 30 mm.

According to Hyundai, the fastback version has also an improved aerodynamics due to its lower center of gravity. The i30 Fastback also gets bespoke suspension setting with spring rates which are stiffer by 15 percent and helps in improving the agility and maneuverability of the car in an effective manner.

Considering the engine options of the new avatar, there will be an option of two turbocharged petrol engines which include a 3-cylinder, 1.0-litre T-GDI with 120 hp of maximum power and a 4-cylinder, 1.4-litre T-GDI with 140 hp of maximum power. The smaller engine unit is mated to a six-speed manual whereas, the latter option comes with a seven-speed dual clutch automatic transmission.

The equipment list of the car is similar to the hatchback version with either a 5.0-inch or 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The infotainment system will be featuring satnav and smartphone connectivity features as standard. The i30 Fastback will be also benefitted with a cruise control and additional driver assist programmes, one of them is the rear cross traffic alert. Though there are no plans of introducing the new version of i30 in the Philippines, we do wish that the South Korean automaker brings this beauty here.
