Smart ForTow explored before its Frankfurt debut

MANILA: Doing full justice to its name Smart Automobile has always offered vehicles that are integrated with smart looks and high performance. Their cars may look petite but inside they hold some fabulous engineering work that allow the car to stand shoulder to shoulder with its larger size competitors. Smart's latest creation ForTwo Cabrio that is listed to greet the world in the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show has been unveiled before handed.

The car looks refreshing and carries a design language that apart from increasing its utility makes it a major head turner. Smart ForTwo replicate its predecessor in terms of power mill, and thus will be offered in two engine options. First in line is a 1.0-liter powerhouse that will generate maximum power of 72 PS along with the maximum torque of 92 Nm. Next in the line is a more powerful 0.9-litre inline three-cylinder engine that is efficient enough to develop 91 PS and 135 Nm. Both the above-mentioned mills are available in two transmission options: 5-speed manual transmission and 6-speed dual clutch transmission.

Moving towards its tech front, the car is equipped with a 'tritop' folding soft top that is quick enough to deploy in a time frame of mere 12 seconds. What makes this car even more airy is the fact that it is fitted with detachable roof bars that can be easily stored in the boot area. This flamboyant two-seater will fill colors in your life as the company offers the top fabric in three distinct dips -Blue Denim, Red and Black.

Torsional strength is an important component of a car's engineering, it relates to the force required to twist the car by a mere angle of one degree. Smart seems to have focused on this area as a result of which the ForTwo features a 15% improvement in this field. Contributors to this enhanced ability are the high-quality steel components, torsional bulkhead and inner A-pillar tube which is again manufactured from good quality steel.

Sitting inside the cabin is now more fun as the car is now armed with Bluetooth connectivity, automatic climate control, cruise control and multifunction steering wheel. High-end features are not all, ForTow also has a new interior design that is reflected in the form of honeycomb designed loudspeaker, futuristic looking informative panel and the list goes on.
