Subaru Levorg STI Sport coming in January 2020

MANILA: Subaru recently previewed the Levorg station wagon prototype during the 2019 Tokyo Motor Show. And now, it plans to unveil the STI Sports version next month at the Tokyo Modified Auto Show.

Just to refresh your memory, the Subaru Levorg is built using the Subaru Global Platform—the company’s next-generation design strategy that integrates modern technology to deliver “a fun driving experience for all passengers regardless of the roads and weather conditions.”

The station wagon has a modular chassis platform and is powered by a 1.8-litre horizontally opposed 4-cylinder turbocharged and direct-injection engine which will deliver a nice balance of “acceleration and environmental credentials.” In terms of design, the Levorg prototype is curvy enough with more aggressive features as compared to other station wagons with its dual-exit exhaust, sleek headlights, and squared wheel arches.

The Levorg STI Sport takes its design cues from the current Levorg with the ‘sport’ designation that focuses more on cosmetics upgrades. The Levorg exterior features a bolder body kit with a more aggressive-looking front fascia and exhaust system while the rear is sporting the STI badge on the side.

It also comes with a sharper-looking set of wheels too. In terms of performance, there is not much detail to go on too. Subaru is keeping mum on the technical specs as of the moment, but we are guessing that it will still be powered by the same engine specs with possible slight upgrades on the chassis and spring for more responsive driving and comfortable ride.

And since the Levorg STI Sport is still a family car, it has to be safe and dependable. As such, expect it to feature driver-assist and safety features like Subaru’s EyeSight system that scans for potential hazards; pre-collision braking system fitted with a high-definition map and GPS to minimize risks of possible collision and allows for hands-free driving in certain conditions; and Advanced Automatic Collision Notification system that sends alerts if the car figures in an accident.

The Subaru Levorg STI Sport Prototype will be unveiled at the Tokyo Auto Salon is a 2-day event that will run from January 10 to 12, 2020. And yes, it is still a prototype. Maybe they will also reveal when the Levorg will hit the production line when it gets unveiled.
