Tesla CEO wants to put rocket thrusters in upcoming Roadster

MANILA: Rockets in cars look good, but only in cartoons, isn’t it? In reality, it actually sounds like something absolutely silly. There are many shows and reports that prove many things can go wrong while adding rockets to cars. However, there is still one person, an ambitious one, who has visions of turning this silly idea into reality.

It is none other than Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk, a person who has made his dreams possible with some great contributions. The Chief took on Twitter to announce that the upcoming Tesla Roadster will have an optional package, SpaceX.

The yet-to-be-launched Tesla Roadster will be aligned with 10 rocket thrusters that would be installed within. And just like what you are thinking about, these rocket thrusters will be capable of improving the top speed, acceleration, cornering, and braking dramatically. Moreover, he has also mentioned that the thrusters would even get the Roadster to fly.

Though as we find this claim to be too absurd, we cannot put away Elon Musk’s achievements till date and the fact that he has fulfilled most of the claims that he made, and the ones that he didn’t, he would try to achieve them during his lifespan. Being the CEO of SpaceX as well, he has made valuable contributions, one of them being the development of advanced reusable rockets. Hence, the claims of rockets being fitted in a car do not seem far from being a reality.

Having said all of this, there is still no confirmed news about the use of SpaceX package in the upcoming Tesla Roadster. Hence, it seems unlikely that the car would be getting the package option at the time of its launch in 2020.

The standard Tesla Roadster would be capable of producing 10,000 Nm of torque with the help of three electric motors, as claimed by the company already. With such power on offer, the car would be capable of hitting an acceleration of 0-97 kmph in just 1.9 seconds, apart from having a driving range of 1,000 km on a single charge.
