Toyota GR PH motorsport events ‘on hold’ following fuel crisis

MANILA: Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippines is suspending all motorsport events in line with the ongoing fuel crisis the country is experiencing.

In its social media post, the brand’s local motorsport program shared that the postponement will be implemented in support of the nationwide energy conservation efforts.

“All TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Philippines motorsports events will be placed on hold until further notice,” the post stated. 

Such a development means that the remaining legs of the 2026 Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup will be moved to a later date.

For context, the event was supposed to have four legs to be held in three different venues. The first one was already conducted on March 13-15 at Riverpark in Cavite.

The three remaining legs were supposed to be held at the following locations and dates:

Third	August 13-15	Batangas Racing Circuit
Fourth	September 10-12	Clark International Speedway

Recently, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. signed Executive Order 110, declaring that the country is now under “State of National Energy Emergency”, citing that the ongoing conflict in the Middle East poses a threat to the country’s energy security.

Under the aforementioned order, the Department of Energy was given authority to implement measures to safeguard the stability and adequacy of the country’s energy supply, which will include implementation of fuel and energy optimization plans; adoption and enforcement of energy conservation measures; action against hoarding, profiteering, and supply manipulation; and direction of the Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC) and PNOC Exploration Corporation to assist in ensuring the stability and adequacy of the domestic fuel and energy supply.

These agencies will also oversee the procurement of required fuel and petroleum products.
