Toyota sells more than 6-M cars worldwide in Jan-Aug. 2024

MANILA: Toyota Motor Corporation has sold a total of 6,577,090 cars from January-August 2024. 

The Japanese marque revealed the said figure through its latest sales report. With the brand’s Hino and Daihatsu subsidiaries included in the tally, the car company achieved a total global cumulative sales of 6,976,035 vehicles in the same period. 

For August 2024 alone, the Nagoya-based car company sold 888,698 units worldwide. From the aforementioned figure, 149,636 units were Japanese domestic market sales, while 739,053 were sales made outside of the brand’s home country. 

Concerning electrified models, Toyota’s worldwide sales from January-August 2024 reached a total of 2,845,880. In the first eight months of 2024, the brand’s worldwide hybrid electric vehicle sales reached 2,601,317 units. 

In the same span of time, the Japanese conglomerate’s global sales for mild hybrid electric vehicles reached 48,464 units, plug-in hybrids at 97,666 units, and battery electric vehicles at 97,058 units. 

In the context of the local market, the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Incorporated (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) indicated via a previous report that Toyota’s local division has released 122,730 units to its clients within the January-July 2024 period. 

CAMPI-TMA’s report for August 2024, meanwhile, stated that Toyota Motor Philippines is still the dominant player with a 46.15 percent market share. 

Production

In terms of worldwide car production, Toyota managed to reach a total of 6,806,258 cars from January-August 2024. From the said figure, 2,324,435 units were produced in Japan. A total of 4,463,823, meanwhile, were made by production facilities around the world. 

For August 2024 alone, Asia (excluding Japan) produced a total of 268,719 units. A total of 177,924 units, meanwhile, were made in North America, and 185,680 units were built in Japan.
