Toyota sells more than 5-M cars worldwide in Jan-Jul. 2024

MANILA: Toyota has achieved worldwide sales of  5,750,240 units for the first seven months of 2024. 

The Nagoya-based car maker revealed the aforementioned through its recent sales report posted on its official website. With its Hino and Daihatsu subsidiaries included in the count, the conglomerate managed to reach a total global cumulative sales of 6,087,359 units from January-July 2024. 

For the month of July 2024 specifically, the Japanese marque’s worldwide sales tallied at 857,982 units. Out of the said figure, 140,353 vehicles were sold in the brand’s home market of Japan, while 717,629 cars were sold in the rest of the world. 

For electrified models, the Japanese manufacturer sold a total of 2,264,469 hybrid-electric vehicles from January-July 2024. In the aforementioned time frame, the company’s cumulative global mild hybrid electric vehicle sales also tallied at 39,957, plug-in hybrids at 84,120, and battery electric vehicles (BEV) at 84,376 units. 

In the context of the local setting, the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Incorporated (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) previously reported that Toyota’s local arm has rolled out 122,730 units from its dealerships within the January-July 2024 period.

Production

The carmaker's worldwide car production managed to reach a total of 5,453,472 cars from January-July 2024. Out of the said figure, 1,817,534 vehicles were built by the brand’s Japan-based manufacturing facilities, while 3,635,938 units were produced abroad.  

Outside of Japan, the region with the highest January-July 2024 cumulative production figure is North America, with 1,211,498 units. From the start of the year until July, Toyota facilities in Asia made 1,650,657 units, while the ones in Europe rolled out 511,693 vehicles. 

Leading the charge for Asia is Thailand, with a total of 318,260 vehicles produced in the first seven months of 2024. Meanwhile, Toyota’s Philippine-based manufacturing facilities have produced 37,434 units in the same time frame.
