Upcoming Jaecoo S7 SHS claims P2.74/km operating cost

MANILA: Omoda and Jaecoo Motor Philippines Incorporated shared that the J7 Super Hybrid System (SHS) boasts a low per-kilometer operating cost of just P2.74 per kilometer. The aforementioned is based on a comprehensive internal and independent test. 

The aforementioned consisted of a 418.9 kilometer-long test route from Shell South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) all the way to Shell Tarlac-Pangasinan La Union Expressway (TPLEX). According to the company, the said route consisted of a “mix of highway and provincial driving.” 

Here is the Jaecoo S7 SHS’ cost to operate per kilometer compared to other plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) and battery electric vehicles (BEV):

As found out by the test mentioned above, the company noted that the S7 SHS’ extended all-electric mode is more than enough for daily driving. Meanwhile, its nature as a PHEV makes it more versatile than HEV nameplates due to its plugged-in charging capability. Its combination of electric and gasoline power likewise means lower operating costs, at least when compared to an ICE model such as the Omoda C5.

Jaecoo S7 SHS: specifications

For prospective buyers curious about the Jaecoo S7 SHS, its powertrain consists of a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, a hybrid transmission, and a high-performance hybrid battery. Altogether, the said system can generate up to 340 horsepower and 525 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque.

For now, Omoda and Jaecoo Motor Philippines has yet to confirm an exact launch date for the S7 SHS, but as of the 2025 Manila International Auto Show, the company said that its Premium and Comfort trims will retail below P1.7 million.
