VinFast PH rolls out ‘Trade Gas for Electric’ program

Offers a 3 percent discount for those switching from ICE to VinFast EV units

VinFast PH rolls out ‘Trade Gas for Electric’ program

MANILA: Amid rising fossil fuel prices in the Philippines and other parts of the world, VinFast’s local arm introduced the “Trade Gas for Electric” program, which makes it easier for owners of internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles to buy a brand-new all-electric ride.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Until when is VinFast’s ‘Trade Gas for Electric’ program available?

The VinFast ‘Trade Gas for Electric’ program is available until March 31, 2026, only.
  • What is the projected monthly cost to operate a VinFast VF 3 every month?

According to VinFast PH, operating and charging the VF 3 at home roughly equates to a cost of P1,440.
  • Under the said initiative, customers who have decided to buy a VinFast model are entitled to a three percent discount on top of existing offers. It is only available until March 31, 2026, from all VinFast dealerships nationwide.

For considering a VinFast electric vehicle (EV), the brand’s lineup of cars in the local market consists of the following:

    VinFast model

Price (starting price with battery subscription)

    VF 3

    P645,000

    VF 5

    P949,000

    VF 6

    P1.249 million

    VF 7

    P1.43 million

    VF 9

    P3.845 million

    Limo Green

    P1.099 million

As VinFast further explained, the VinFast VF 6 uses approximately 155.5 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per month. That’s equivalent to a total travel distance of 1,200 kilometers. When considering current electric rates, the cost is P13.8 per kWh, or roughly P2,150 monthly.

In comparison, a similarly-sized gasoline crossover, the brand says, will cost P5,090 to operate an entire month, if run with an average fuel economy of 6.5 liters per 100 km (15.3 kpl).

On that note, charging a VinFast unit at home will be cheaper to operate, and that doesn’t even account for the oil changes needed to maintain an ICE vehicle.

Additionally, VinFast says that its smaller offers have even lower estimated monthly operating costs. Per the brand, running the VF 5 will incur monthly costs of just P1,890. The VF 3, meanwhile, sees an estimated monthly cost of around P1,440.

    Other stories:

    VinFast: free charging program

On top of the inherently low operating costs of VinFast EV models, the brand also extended its free-charging program until March 31, 2029. This is available at all V-Green stations and is applicable to all VinFast owners.

Notably, the said program was also deployed in other markets, such as India and Indonesia. And yes, the said service also includes drivers operating the Green GSM ride-hailing cars.

    VinFast: other cost-saving programs

In addition to the free-charging program and the “Trade Gas for Electric” initiative, VinFast has several other customer-oriented strategies to keep its rides accessible.

First off is its battery subscription program, which was reintroduced to the Philippine market in 2025. It offers a 20 percent reduction in overhead costs for its vehicles and functions as a “lifetime battery warranty” solution, under which the company is responsible for the battery unit’s maintenance, repairs, and free replacement whenever its capacity drops below 70 percent.

Additionally, the company also launched its Residual Value Guarantee program last year. This, according to VinFast, assures that vehicle owners can regain up to 90 percent of their car’s value, depending on how long they owned their VinFast EV.
