Volvo to release XC60 PHEV in PH?

MANILA: If you have been following Volvo Cars Philippines on Facebook, chances are you have learned about its upcoming models, which one of it — Zigwheels Philippines believes — is the XC60 Plug-in Hybrid.

Since June 24, the Hariphil Asia Resources Incorporated-led automotive distributor had been posting teasers noting its launch tomorrow (July 2).

According to Volvo Philippines, the upcoming event — anchored on Volvo: Being Alive (a HARI-pioneered initiative) — is set to mark a new era in safe, intelligent, and purposeful mobility.

“This is more than just a product introduction — it is a celebration of thoughtful leadership, and collective responsibility on the road. We look forward to sharing how Volvo continues to shape the culture of safety and the future of mobility with purpose and care,” HARI Vice Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer Maria Fe Perez Agudo said.

As seen in the Volvo Cars Philippines’ post last June 25, the portion showed a strong resemblance to the XC60, with a note, “What is better than hybrid?”

While Volvo Philippines has yet to confirm and share the details about the soon-to-be-introduced model, here are the Volvo XC60 Plug-in Hybrid specifications abroad.

The bold luxury crossover features a sporty appeal and a bold silhouette, thanks to the carved curves on the wheel arches, and a new grille design.

Further, the Volvo XC60 Plug-in Hybrid in other markets comes with:

• 19- or 21-inch wheels
• Black finishes
• Diagonal pattern on the front grille

Interior

Inside, the aforementioned nameplate boasts plush upholstery with tactile decors that come in the form of:

• Driver-centric controls
• Electronically adjustable and ventilated front seats with cushion extensions and 10-point massage function
• Three-spoke multi-function steering wheel
• 11.2-inch free-standing center display mated to Bowers and Wilkins High Fidelity Audio System, Harman Kardon Premium Sound or High Performance configuration
• 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster with head-up display
• Panoramic roof
• Ambient lighting

The hauling capacity of the Volvo XC60 Plug-in Hybrid ranges from 468 (second row up) all the way to 1,528 liters (tumbled down backrests).

Powertrain

Propelling the Volvo XC60 Plug-in Hybrid is a 2.0-liter, gasoline-fed engine with an electric motor and a 19-kilowatt-hour battery in all-wheel-drive setup.

This powertrain combination can dish out a maximum combined output of 462 horsepower  and 709 Newton-meters of torque that lets the vehicle do:

Since its inception in 2008, the Volvo XC60 has already sold 2.7 million units — jumping ahead of the 240, which was the Gothenburg-headquartered automaker’s previous best-selling model.
