XC60 becomes Volvo’s best-selling global model

MANILA: As of June 2025, Volvo’s top-selling model worldwide is the XC60. To be more specific, the Swedish car brand has already sold a total of 2.7 million XC60 units since the nameplate’s initial introduction in 2008. As such, it replaces the Volvo 240 - the previous best-selling model from the Gothenburg-headquartered automobile manufacturer. 

Per the carmaker, the XC60 has risen to become a favorite among its clients due to its safety and “premium driving experience.” The model has also managed to penetrate the lucrative Chinese market, after becoming its first-ever model to be manufactured within the aforementioned country. 

Other accolades of the Volvo XC60 also include its previous 2018 World Car of the Year title. According to the manufacturer, the model also became the “best-selling plug-in hybrid in Europe” last year. 

A few months ago, the Women’s Worldwide Car of the Year also hailed Volvo as the winner of the prestigious 2025 Sandy Myhre Award. 

Philippine-spec Volvo XC60

In the local market, the Volvo XC60 retails at P4.49 million as the B6 R-Design Boost Hybrid trim. Under its hood is a 2.0-liter inline-4 mild-hybrid gasoline engine capable of producing up to 313 horsepower and 460 Newton-meters of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed automatic gearbox. 

Additionally, the model boasts an air-suspension system with adaptive capabilities, a large array of advanced driver-assist systems, leather upholstery, a Bowers and Wilkins speaker set, and a Google-powered touchscreen infotainment system.
