WATCH: Hyundai x BTS in Earth Day hydrogen campaign video
MANILA: Hyundai Motor Company teamed up with Korean pop (K-pop) group BTS, to commemorate the 50th Earth Day through a new video as part of the Global Hydrogen Campaign of the automobile company.
The video is a reaffirmation of the continuous commitment of Hyundai towards a sustainable future. It also serves as a message to protect the planet and to not fail to appreciate the significant gifts of Mother Nature.
The 60- and 120-second versions of the video made their world premiere on the official Youtube channel of Hyundai (@HyundaiWorldwide) at 6 a.m. (KST) (5 a.m. here) on April 22. The video coincides with the celebration of Earth Day and will be aired as TV commercials on major global networks over the next few weeks.
The 60-second version of the Hyundai-BTS video can be seen here, while the 120-second version can be viewed here.
The newly launched video features remarkable sceneries as BTS members each emphasize the striking elements of nature that everyone must value. These elements include “woody fresh,” “starlit,” “crystalline raindrops,” “sun-kissed,” “sky blue,” “pure-white,” and “emerald ocean.”
The last part of the video features the top fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) of Hyundai, the NEXO, which represents the vision of the auto company for “hydrogen energy as the positive energy for a better tomorrow.”
According to the executive vice president and chief marketing officer of Hyundai Motor, Wonhong Cho, this film hopes to give inspiration to fans and customers worldwide on the importance of taking care of the planet and maintaining its cleanliness in celebration of Earth Day. Hyundai Motor will continuously use the Global Hydrogen Campaign with BTS as a way of raising global awareness on the current environmental problems and championing hydrogen for a more sustainable future.
BTS has been fostering sustainable mobility using the hashtag, #BecauseOfYou, as the global brand ambassador for Hyundai Motor. They are also assisting the company in delivering its sustainable initiatives with millennials.
The K-pop group starred in another video earlier this year, which aimed at introducing the clean mobility vision of Hyundai. The video was shown on a digital billboard at Times Square in New York City. The seven members of the famous group also came to the 62nd Grammy Awards with the zero-emission-vehicle Hyundai NEXO.
Another segment of the Global Hydrogen Campaign is the #DarkSelfieChallenge, which was introduced last April 13. This online event is one of the simple approaches for people to engage in the Earth Day campaign while staying at home. People can switch off their lights and take a selfie while holding a flashlight in the dark.
All participants are asked to share their pictures on social media using the hashtags, #EarthDay, and #DarkSelfieChallenge until May 4. BTS members are also participating in the challenge as a way of showing their dedication to the environment.
Meanwhile, Hyundai also released the “How It Works” video for the NEXO fuel-cell SUV as part of the commemoration for Earth Day on April 22. The video is currently available on the Hyundai News official website and the Hyundai Youtube Channel through this link.
The “How It Works” video serves as an explanation of how the NEXO fuel cell stack generates its propulsion energy whenever the driver needs it, in contrast to battery electric vehicles (EVs). Having a range of up to 380 miles and a refueling rate of five minutes, the latest NEXO is a demonstration of the vision for a zero-emission future.
Earth Day is usually observed every April 22 annually as it involves different events occurring around the world as a way of supporting the environment.
One of the activities done during Earth day is the dimming of lights in major cities worldwide. In 2019, Hyundai Motor collaborated with the Seoul Metropolitan Government for the utilization of NEXO vehicles. The goal was to produce power for the façade illumination of the Seoul Metropolitan Library during the light’s off event of the city.
