With 6 races left, Audi secures DTM manufacturers' crown

MANILA: Never mind that there are six more races left in the season. Audi has already guaranteed that it will take home the manufacturers' trophy of the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM).

The DTM provides action-packed racing via turbocharged engines that generate more than 600hp.

Audi clinched all three podium spots at the Nürburgring race, the 12^th round of the series, care of Nico Muller and Robin Frijns of Audi Sport Team ABT Sportsline, and Rene Rast of Audi Sport Team Rosberg.

Something extraordinary happened in this year’s DTM was when Frijns registered the fastest time in all three sectors during the qualifying round at Nürburgring GP on the way to securing his fifth pole position.

During the race though, Muller emerged faster as he utilized Push-to-Pass on lap seven and drag reduction system (DRS) to outmatch Frijns.

From this point, Muller continuously pulled away and at the end of the race, was able to establish an 11.8-second lead over Frijns and beat Rast with a 19.5-second difference.

This was Muller’s fifth win for the season in the Nurburgring Sprint.

Although he acknowledged the success of the Audi Sport Team ABT Sportsline over the weekend, Rast assured that the Audi Sport Team Rosberg will remain competitive in the remaining six racing events.

Ferdinand Hasbsburg of the customer team WRT Team Audi Sport was another Audi entry and he was able to finish sixth in the Nurburgring Sprint. He took second position in the qualifying session and was placed next to Frijns on the starting grid.

In addition, Audi Sport Team Phoenix earned points for its racers; with Mike Rockenfeller ending in seventh and Loic Duval finishing in the ninth spot.

DTM will be staging its four more races from October 9 to 11, 2020 and from October 16 to 18, 2020 in Zolder, Belgium. The last two rounds will also be held from November 6 to 8, 2020 in Hockenhein, Germany.
