Yet Another Disappointed Show by VW Group- 8 Lac Cars Recalled

MANILA: After facing profound embarrassment last year due to Dieselgate scandal, the German automaker is yet again surrounded by worries. However, this time the issue isn’t related to the diesel engines or pollution incurred by its vehicles but due to some other reasons. The German auto manufacturer has recalled over 8 Lac cars due to a faulty foot pedal design.

The recall of vast number of cars is certainly another blow to the brand as it prepares itself to face the legal proceedings in US regarding the cheating emissions scandal. When the brand was trying every bit of it to rejuvenate its image in the automotive world, just then another issue pops up to haunt it.

This is not the first time that the company has issued a recall. A recall was pushed out for Macan S and Turbo cars last year in November due to fuel leak problem and now again in a matter of three months, VW group has been found in the recall books.

According to the report, a total of 8,00,000 VW Touareg and Porsche Cayenne have been recalled developed between 2011 to 2016 due to an issue with the foot pedal mechanism. Out of the total, Cayenne accounts for 4,09,477 units while 3,91,000 units of Touareg have been found ill.

The brand explained the issue to be a loosen clip on the bearing bracket for pedals whose repeated use could dislodge the pedal resulting in an accident. However, there aren’t any accidents or collisions reported due to this problem, but it certainly is a bit of worry for the owners. Hence, the company has started the recall regarding the same owing to the safety of the occupants.

The recalled cars will undergo an inspection at the dealership outlets for the issue and if anything fishy is detected then it will be rectified there itself, as according to the officials this issue can be resolved in less than 30 minutes. The issue was spotted during an internal check and the respective customers will be contacted by the dealers in near future to rectify the same.
