Using a standard 110-volt outlet, the Honda Motocompacto can be fully charged in just three hours and 30 minutes. It has a top speed of 24 kilometers per hour and an emissions-free range of up to 19 kilometers.

“Motocompacto is uniquely Honda – a fun, innovative and unexpected facet of our larger electrification strategy. Sold in conjunction with our new all-electric sports utility vehicles, Motocompacto supports our goal of carbon neutrality by helping customers with end-to-end zero-emissions transport,” American Honda Motor Company Incorporated Vice President of Research and Development Business Unit Jane Nakagawa stated.

The Motocompacto was designed and built by Honda engineers in the United States as an innovative form of personal electric transportation that has been awarded 32 patents. It measures 742-millimeter (mm) long, 94mm wide, and 536mm tall, and can be easily folded into a small, lightweight carrying case that can be stored in tight places or taken along in a vehicle or public transportation.

Designed with the comfort and convenience of the rider in mind, the Honda Motocompacto comes with a plush seat, secure grip foot pegs, on-board storage, digital speedometer, charge gauge, and a comfortable carry handle. Lighting and ride modes can be adjusted through a smartphone app.

These features make the electric scooter ideal for urban areas and when traveling to work or school.

“Motocompacto is easy to use and fun to ride, but was also designed with safety, durability, and security in mind. It uses a robust heat-treated aluminum frame and wheels, bright LED headlight and taillight, side reflectors, and a welded steel lock loop on the kickstand that is compatible with most bike locks,” Honda Development and Manufacturing of America Project Lead and Design Engineering Unit Leader Nick Ziraldo said.

    Honda Motocompacto

Honda will also release a line of Motocompacto accessories, including a helmet, backpack, apparel, and more.

Sales of Honda Motocompacto will begin in North America in November. It will retail for $995 (approximately P56,500).

As Honda in the Philippines has recently entered the electric vehicle scene again, we’re hoping that this compact and unique e-scooter will make its way in the local market.
