Honda Neo Sports Cafe is the all-new CB1000R

MANILA: After a lot of anticipation, the Japanese bike maker has finally taken the wraps off its much-awaited bike, the Neo Sports Cafe, which is tagged as the CB1000R. We were already aware of the styling from the concept images, which is a tribute to the Honda’s CB-line bikes from the early 1990s, the production version is a more advanced version of it. The amalgamation of retro features with modern designing has resulted in a much appealing version of the CB100R that makes it stand out of its competitors.

The all-new CB1000R lacks the aggressive styling seen in the Yamaha MT-10 or the BMW S1000R, still the super-naked styling is quite competitive. The engine configuration is similar to CBR1000RR, which delivers a maximum power of 145 PS and peak torque of 104 Nm. The updated version of the bike weighs 212kg, which is 12kg less than its predecessor. To achieve a strong mid-range torque, CB1000R has 4 per cent shorter gearing.

The updated CB1000R also gets a slipper/assist clutch, ride-by-wire and four riding modes. The suspension duties of the bike are handled by Showa adjustable big-piston USD forks up front and a Showa monoshock at the rear. There is also a higher-spec CB1000R+ version that offers quicker shift lined up in the company’s launch book. Along with the CB1000R, the manufacturer has also showcased its updated CB300R and CB125R that highlights similar retro-styling as the elder sibling.

Let’s see when the new version hits the global market. According to reports, it might reach the dealerships by early 2018 in selected markets.
