Honda unveils 2018 Monkey 125
MANILA: Remember the cheeky phenomenon that the Honda Monkey turned out to be in the past? Well, no one could even imagine that such a bike, essentially made for kids, could become so popular. Honda has now unveiled the new generation of the bike, the 2018 Monkey 125, which was first showcased as a concept form back in 2017.
Aesthetically, the 2018 Honda Monkey 125 is a delight to everyone’s eyes. It is still small in size and has a scrambler-like structure. The bike also gets a lot of chrome additions everywhere around like on the headlamp, tail light and heat shield of the exhaust. When the designing comes into the picture, the Monkey appears to be straight out of the box version of the 1970 model, including the dual-tone colour scheme.
The Honda Monkey no longer uses the kid-ish 49-cc engine. It is now powered by a 125-cc, single cylinder engine, air-cooled engine, which is capable of making a maximum power of 9.3 bhp along with a peak torque of 10.9 Nm. Plus, with the increased power, there is one more gear added to the transmission system. And thanks to the fuel injection mechanism, the company is proudly claiming that it would have a fuel efficiency of around 80 kmpl, which would be phenomenal.
The mini bike is also not short of any amazing features. It is now suspended over upside down front fork and dual shock absorber suspension at the rear. If this is not enough, the motorcycle is also equipped with ABS on both the wheels.
The 2018 Honda Monkey 125 might be launched soon on the international arena. However, there are strong chances that it would not be launched in all the countries. But as far as the Philippines market is concerned, we are expecting it to get the green signal.
