Body
Style-wise, the 125 and 390 versions of the SMC R carry the same impactful design as the larger 690 SMC R model. The two boast an upright seating angle, an aggressive handlebar shape, and LED lighting. Of course, the two motorcycles wear a combination of orange, black, and white hues for their fairings.

Speaking of the chassis, the two nameplates are built on the brand’s 2-piece trellis main frame, combined with a pressure die-cast aluminum subframe. Per KTM, the well-proportioned frame was designed to give both models improved agility and enhanced feedback.
Regarding suspensions, the larger 390 SMC R’s front end uses a 43-millimeter (mm) WP APEX open cartridge, while its rear comes with a WP Apex piston shock absorber. Both offer 230 mm of travel and adjustable preloads and compression.

The smaller 125 SMC R, on the other hand, rides on the same set of suspensions. Its front fork, however, does not come with the adjustability feature that is present on its larger sibling.
From the factory, both motorcycles ride on front and rear 17-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin Power 6 tires. The two models also utilize a front 320-mm radial disc brake, a Bybre caliper for the front, as well as a 240-mm disc brake, and a single-piston caliper for the rear.
Features
KTM provided a host of features to make the 125 and 390 SMC R models easy to use.
Key amenities standard between the two nameplates are an 860-mm single-piece flat seat design, adjustable footpegs, a 4.2-inch TFT digital display, USB connectivity, and an anti-locking braking system (ABS) managed by a Bosche 10.3MB Modulator.

Exclusive to the 390 SMC R is a “SuperMoto ABS” option for experienced riders. The larger of the two new KTM supermoto units also has a ride mode selector, which includes street and sport modes.
Powertrain
As its name suggests, the 390 SMC R uses a 390-cubic-centimeter (cc) one-cylinder, four-stroke gasoline engine capable of producing up to 44 horsepower (hp) and 39 Newton-meters of torque.
On the one hand, the 125 SMC R is propelled by a 125-cc one-cylinder, four-stroke gasoline mill that’s good for 14.7 hp and 11.5 Nm of torque.

The two new KTM two-wheelers also use liquid cooling, an electric starter, a mechanically operated PASC slipper clutch, and a Bosch electronic fuel injection system.
