Move It puts up latest safety-focused thrust

MANILA: In its bid to boost its commitment to provide safe and secure transportation, Move It has launched the “Malasakit sa Biyahe” Safety and Protection Program.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Who are some of the partners that Move It has partnered with to ensure rider roadworthiness?

The motorcycle taxi platform has also partnered with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority and Philippine National Police for capacity building sessions that cover road safety, passenger handling, and vehicle maintenance.
  • What are the Move It app's features that protect both riders and passengers?

The Move It app's features that protect riders and passengers are the "Share my ride", Emergency SOS button, as well as the Report an Issue and Passenger rating.
  • Per the motorcycle taxi company, the newest initiative is focused on key safety elements like skills assessment and development; technology and report mechanisms; and rider and vehicle roadworthiness.

As one of the participants of the motorcycle taxi pilot study, one important aspect of our service at Move It is safety – not only of our passengers but also of every brother and sister on the road. Safety is not just a promise for us; it is part of our principle. That's why we continue to expand programs, guidelines and tech features to increase the safety of our every trip)," Move It General Manager Wayne Jacinto was quoted as saying.

"Malayo na ang ating narating pagdating dito at patuloy pa tayong mag-i-improve para sa bawat pasaherong patuloy na nagtitiwala at tumatangkilik sa aming serbisyo, at maging sa mga riders na umaasa sa Move It para sa kanilang pang-araw-araw na kabuhayan (We have come a long way since we got here and we will continue to improve for every passenger who continues to trust and enjoy our service, and even for the riders who rely on Move It for their daily livelihood),” he added.

    Skills Assessment and Development

Move It said before having the aspiring rider-partner onboard, a thorough skillset assessment is being done. Their vehicles are also inspected if they are roadworthy. Aside from that, they now have to undergo an annual mandatory retraining and vehicle inspection.

The motorcycle taxi platform has also forged collaborations with various organizations like the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority and Philippine National Police for capacity-building sessions that cover road safety, passenger handling, and vehicle maintenance.

Further, Move It has recently put up its first-ever Kaligtasan Center.

Located at the Move It-Grab Warehouse in Marikina, the company’s facility for skills development and assessment activities will soon have dedicated help desks for rider and passenger concerns — growing Move It’s multi-channel help centers and consumer assistance channels. More centers with the similar function shall be established within key areas this year.

The company also has Move It Academy — an online in-app learning platform that has safety-focused content. According to Move It, 150,000 safety courses have been completed by rider partners as of March 2024.

Leveraging on tech to ensure safe rides

With its strategic partnership with Grab, Move It boasts several in-app features for passengers and its rider-partners for an additional layer of safety.

    • Share My Ride: Allows riders and passengers to share their live location with colleagues and loved ones for easy tracking. A Share My Ride link can be shared by the user via different messaging apps and platforms.
    • Emergency SOS Button: Connects users with local authorities and law enforcement.
    • Manage Emergency Contacts: said to be an exclusive feature on Move It. The feature lets users store multiple family and emergency contacts for easy access and speed dial during emergencies.

Furthermore, customers can use the “Report and Issue” mechanism at the Activity Tab to file a report while the driver can rate passengers based on their conduct.

The firm also established “Ka-Move It Emergency Responders” who are trained to conduct basic first aid and situation assessment.

Passengers and riders are also encouraged to contact the 24/7 Move It Safety Hotline at 02-8883-7109 for any incidents encountered on the road.

    Other safety-related thrust

Last year, Move It published a Passenger Manifesto that highlights its deep commitment to safety.

Lastly, Move It claimed that it continues to maintain a 99.998 percent safety record and a less-than 30-minute average incident response time.
