Honda rolls out concept model to kick off partnership with Onitsuka

MANILA: Honda Motor Company Limited has teamed up with fellow Japanese brand Onitsuka Tiger to transcend industry boundaries and bring together motorcycles and fashion.

As the first initiative of the collaboration, the mobility brand held the world premiere of the “Onitsuka Tiger Honda Mid Sports Concept” at the Onitsuka Tiger show held as part of Milan Fashion Week 2027 Women’s Collection Spring/Summer in Milan, Italy.

Concept bike notable features 

The “Onitsuka Tiger Honda Mid Sports Concept” was created as a new model symbolizing the collaboration.

Per Honda Motor Company Limited, the prototype is based on a mid-displacement sports model, which, judging by the sharp headlamp and exposed exhaust, is likely the CBR500R (available locally for P415,000). 

Noticeable features include Onitsuka Tiger’s iconic “Tiger Yellow” finish complemented by bold black stripes extending across both sides of the motorcycle.

The predominantly black wheels feature Tiger Yellow accents and the logos of both brands.

Bold “ONITSUKA TIGER” markings and the unmistakable “HONDA” moniker can be found on the cowling covering the handlebars at the fore, as well as on the cladding protecting the underside of the motorbike. 

Its gold-colored front forks blend well with the color scheme of the motorcycle, while the subtle pop of red from the Brembo front brake calipers reminds those admiring the “Onitsuka Tiger Honda Mid Sports Concept” of its track-oriented roots. 

The wing mark with the “HONDA” script can be found on the tank. Near the tail of the two-wheeler is a sleek-looking rear that tapers aggressively. Here, an Akrapovič exhaust system can be seen, which is held by a minimalist-looking bracket. 

Honda Motor Company Limited did not disclose the performance figures of the concept motorcycle, and the features added to the bike are likely cosmetic, with very little to no impact on the mechanical capabilities of the vehicle.

“From the color scheme to the smallest details, every element has been carefully considered to create a distinctive motorcycle,” Honda Motor Company Limited wrote in a press release.

Fashionable apparel 

Onitsuka Tiger is known for its trendy and comfortable footwear, and its recent collaboration with Honda Motor Company Limited highlights the fashion brand’s know-how as a shoemaker. 

As such, Onitsuka Tiger unveiled footwear and apparel incorporating the wing mark, a symbol of Honda motorcycles, at Milan Fashion Week. 

The collection was designed with inspiration from motorcycle culture. Presenting the Onitsuka Tiger Honda Mid Sports Concept alongside the collection provided an opportunity to highlight the attention to detail in manufacturing shared by both brands. 

“Through this collaboration, Honda will work to create opportunities for more customers around the world to experience motorcycle culture as something closer and more accessible by offering new appeal created through the synergy between the two brands, unconstrained by conventional boundaries,” Honda Motor Company Limited noted.
