Yamaha installs new solar power generation system in Fukuroi plant

MANILA: Yamaha Motor Company has equipped its Fukuroi South Factory in Japan with a new solar power generation system that has a capacity of 2,200 kilowatts (kW).

4,650 solar panels were installed over the entire rooftop of the factory building.

The new set of solar panels, along with the 288 panels installed on the rooftops of the energy buildings in 2022, brings the total power generation capacity of the Fukuroi South Factory to 2,330 kW — the largest among the Yamaha Motor Group in its home country.

According to Yamaha Motor, the power generated will be utilized at the factory, and the surplus power will be distributed among the company's other business facilities with the assistance of energy utility firm Chubu Electric Power Grid Incorporated.

By using surplus power, Yamaha Motor will be able to reduce its carbon footprint while contributing to the prevention of global warming.

The installation of the large-scale power generation is part of the company's initiatives under the Yamaha Motor Group Environmental Plan 2050, which aims to achieve carbon neutrality across its supply chain, including corporate activities, by 2050.
