Yamaha Motor completes renovation, expansion of Hamamatsu Robotics Office

MANILA: Yamaha Motor Company Limited has finished the renovation and expansion works for its Hamamatsu Robotics Office. 

The completion of the project is a significant milestone for the company since the facility primarily produces industrial robots. It also develops, produces, and sells surface mounters, which are machines that can automatically place electronic components onto a printed circuit board. 

In total, the facility has gained a floor area that is approximately 1.6 times larger compared to the old site. As such, Yamaha can now increase the production capacity for its surface mounters - one of the facility’s primary market movers. 

At the same time, the renovation allows the company to turn the Hamamatsu plant into a more environmentally friendly establishment. Specifically, it now solely depends on solar power (through solar panels). As a result, the Hamamatsu Robotics Office is now poised to become Yamaha’s first-ever carbon-neutral factory. 

Additionally, the expansion and renovation of the industrial unit, Yamaha says, will contribute towards profitability. The company also shared that it will further improve its customer-oriented systems for technology, sales, and services. The aforementioned, after all, is the strength of the Japanese conglomerate’s robotics business. 

As a side note, the renovation and upgrading works for the Yamaha Hamamatsu Robotics Office were started in 2023. It is a part of the company’s medium-term management plan as a strategic investment.
