ZEEKR X

Like the larger Zeekr 009, the new Zeekr X has a very futuristic-looking cabin with minimal buttons anywhere. Every car control is managed electronically with screens and voice commands. The new-age 8.8-inch full-TFT instrument console sits behind the two-spoke multi-functional steering wheel, which also has buttons for demisters, tailgate opening, vehicle locks, and a 360-degree camera. 

The 14.6-inch touchscreen in the centre console houses all the infotainment and climate control settings. It is placed over the centre console, which can slide backwards at the touch of a button. This centre console also has an integrated 50W wireless charger, along with plenty of storage space and an optional refrigerator. 

The Zeekr X has 10-way power-adjustable front seats with heating and ventilation functions. It also has electronically controlled rear seats, a 13-speaker Yamaha sound system, a head-up display, dual-zone climate control with CN95 filtration, a fragrance system, and pillar-mounted rear AC vents. 

The overall design language of the Zeekr X looks striking and futuristic. The contoured and curved bonnet has dual-tier LED headlamps, with LED DRLs covering its upper section in an H-shaped layout. The main headlamps are placed horizontally over the front bumper, with air curtains placed below them vertically. 

While the front fascia of the Zeekr X does not have a grille, the lower intake has a gloss black garnish, and the hood has a small 21-litre storage compartment beneath it. The side profile of the Zeekr X has unique buttons in place of conventional door handles, with these buttons placed on the pillars. The B-pillar here also has a small digital display that shows the Zeekr X's charging status.

With a sloping roofline and a roof spoiler at the back, the Zeekr X also has its charging port above the left-side rear wheel. At the back, the Zeekr X has a full-length connected LED light bar joining the U-shaped LED tail lamps, with the light bar in the middle having illuminated Zeekr lettering in the centre.

Along with the three drive modes – Comfort, Standard and Sport, the Zeekr X also has MacPherson struts at the front and a multi-link setup at the rear, which have a softer setup for plush ride quality. However, the electronic steering wheel feels artificial and is too light at higher speeds. 

The Premium RWD variant of the Zeekr X has a rear-mounted single motor setup, which claims 268 bhp of maximum power and 343 Nm of maximum torque, and 5.8 seconds for the 0-100 kmph run. Meanwhile, the Privilege AWD variant has a dual-motor setup with a maximum power output of 422 bhp and a maximum torque output of 543 Nm, while enabling it to do the 0-100 kmph run in 3.7 seconds. A 66kWh battery pack is standard in both variants, which claims a 560 km range in the Premium RWD and a 512 km range in the Privilege AWD variants (CLTC-certified). 

The Zeekr X has an extensive list of safety features, with its ADAS suite comprising full-speed active cruise control, lane change assist, lane departure warning, lane centring, blind spot monitoring, door opening warning, automatic parking assist (with remote control), remote parking control, autonomous emergency braking, traffic sign recognition, cross traffic alert (front and rear) and low-speed rear autonomous emergency braking. The other sophisticated safety features in the Zeekr X are four surround cameras, an in-car monitoring camera, six airbags, ABS with EBD and brake assist, hill start assist, hill descent control, and a tyre pressure monitoring system. 

The Zeekr X like many other Chinese electric vehicles, is a high-tech battery EV with many futuristic design bits outside and inside, capable battery and motor configurations, and excellent space management controls on the inside. The driving appeal feels artificial, and this is no car to appeal to driving enthusiasts, but to family-oriented car buyers searching for a practical electric vehicle.
