MV Agusta F3 800

MV Agusta has always been one motorcycle maker which has always given a higher priority to the aspect of design – typically an Italian trait. For this reason, the MV Agusta F3 800 looks absolutely gorgeous. Despite the fact that it is the oldest design among the current crop of middleweight motorcycles, it still looks the most exotic and timeless of the lot.

The overall design of the MV Agusta F3 800 is very aerodynamic, with the rakish front fairing of the motorcycle having a diamond-shaped headlamp unit. Just below the front fairing, there are two sharply designed air vents, which act as the chin of the front fascia of the motorcycle.

The full fairing of the MV Agusta F3 800 beautifully extends towards the sides and exposes the black-themed engine as well as red coloured frame in its full glory. The upper portion of the side fairing blends well with the nicely carved fuel tank design with long knee recesses, while the lower portion of the fairing goes all the way down to the exhaust muffler at the bottom. 

While moving towards the rear, the MV Agusta F3 800 takes its style quotient even higher with its sharply raked tailpiece which flows up in a curved manner. At the back, the small LED tail lamp is flanked with two sleek air vents on its sides, integrated into the tailpiece itself. Thanks to the single-sided swing-arm and three vertically stacked exhaust pipes with golden tips, the rear side portion of the motorcycle look even more inviting.

The only grouse in the overall design of the MV Agusta F3 800 happens to be its instrument console. While it is a fully digital unit which displays data of speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge, temperature gauge, odometer, trip meters, gear indicator and some more, the overall unit looks a bit old school when compared to the full TFT units which the competition is offering nowadays. The low set clip-on handlebars feel fantastic and give the rider a spot-on aggressive riding posture.

Matching the prowess of its exotic design, the MV Agusta F3 800 packs in some really high-quality mechanical components, such as ALS trellis frame, upside-down Marzocchi hydraulic telescopic forks and 320mm dual disc brakes at the front, and single-sided swing-arm with progressive Sachs mono-shock and a single 220mm disc brake at the rear.

The MV Agusta F3 800 has been given a four-stroke, three-cylinder, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, 798cc engine, which is paired here to a 6-speed gearbox. This high revving engine is capable of putting up a maximum power output of 150 PS and a peak torque output of 88 Nm – figures which make it the most powerful middleweight engine currently in the world. Thanks to the low kerb weight of 173 kgs, the MV Agusta F3 800 has tremendous power to weight ratio, thus enabling the motorcycle to touch the top speed of 240 kmph.

The MV Agusta F3 800 is packed with a few of modern-day safety elements, like a dual-channel ABS with race mode, three-level traction control with ride modes, assist and slipper clutch, quick-shifter and rear-wheel lift-up mitigation.

The MV Agusta F3 800 is truly a great example of art on two wheels, with the motorcycle having a very timeless and aerodynamic design which can put the latest of the motorcycles to shame when it comes to sheer visual appeal. And this is one motorcycle which has a function in equal quantity as that of form, with the 150 PS engine giving it an ability to surpass all the other middleweight motorcycles when it comes to sheer performance levels.
