Best family cars of 2016 in the Philippines

Cars are important, important to commute, connect and lastly they allow us to take command of our lives. Auto manufacturers every year work hard on creating new designs, features, and machinery that not only are better than before but also carry greater value for money. In this article, we’ll have a look on few such cars that we think are fit for the title of best family cars of 2016. Note, that individual choice may differ, here we have considered cars that have earned good remakes in areas like affordability, comfort and driving ease.

1. Suzuki Alto 800 - Starting Php 398,000

 

This car made a last minute entry into the list, with Alto 800 getting some fresh and stylish updates lately. These updates though restricting mainly to the exterior are worthy enough making it one of the finest family car around. For the ones who are looking for an affordable option for their small family of 4, this car is stylish, delivers apt performance, holds key features, and all this comes with a low price tag. Revisions made in the car include a stylish trapezoidal grille, side rubber cladding, and improved bulb configuration. Suzuki Alto 800 is powered by 47 PS generating 0.8-litre 3-CYL petrol mill that is coupled to a 5-speed MT.

2. Toyota Vios - Starting Php 599,000

 

Toyota Vios is a name that needs no introduction, especially in the Philippines auto market. What came as a treat for all was Toyota’s announcement to launch a brand new model of Vios in July 2016. Making 2016 Vios irresistible are its added new features like new 1.5-litre 1NZ-FE mill that generates 108 PS of power and 140 Nm of torque, improved fuel efficiency, LED DRL’s and fog lamps, and new wheels. Further, making it a safe and reliable family car is its improved safety features that now include Brake-Force Distribution, ABS, EBD, High Mount Stop Lamp and Dual SRS Airbag.

3. Honda Civic -Starting Php 1,093,000

 

After a lot of waiting and anticipation Honda finally launched 10th generation Civic in the Philippines in April. This sedan from the house of Honda withholds some amazing features and technical specifications, all making it one of the best family cars around. Starting with its exterior, the all-new Civic not only has some elegant and modern looks, but its sporty creases and perfectly molded fenders add an aggressive hint to this beauty. The cabin is fitted with comforting and luxurious amenities making long journeys fell short and relaxing. Giving consumers a wider range of choice the car is available in two engine options -1.5-litre (RS Turbo) and 1.8-litre. Keeping your family safe is its G-CON + ACE structure that absorbs shocks and impact at the time of a hit.

4. Mitsubishi Mirage - Starting PhP 555,000

Launched at 2016 MIAS, all-new Mitsubishi Mirage is one of the most affordable family cars to land on the Philippines soil this year. This new version of Mirage carries some stunning looks that make it entirely different from its previous version. Mitsubishi has stuffed 2016 Mirage with new exclusive grille, Bi-Xenon HID headlamps (GLS & GLX), 14/15-inch alloy wheels, restyled LED taillights, tweaked bumper, and spoiler. On the inside, the car is wrapped in a piano black silhouette that holds amenities like 7-inch infotainment system, GPS navigation, and Bluetooth. Apart from being economical, its 1.2-litre 3-CYL MIVEC engine is a performer as well with its power sheet reading 78 PS and 100 Nm.

5. Suzuki Ciaz - Starting Php 738,000

Launched in March this year, Suzuki Ciaz is a subcompact sedan that carries some stunning looks and making it no less than a high-end expensive auto machine. Powered by a 1.4-litre four-CYL gasoline engine, Ciaz churns out a maximum power output of 93 PS along with peak torque of 130 Nm. Offered in two variants - GLX and GL, the former gets 16-inch alloy wheels, 4-speed automatic transmission, and 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The latter one gets 15-inch alloy wheels, 4- and 5-speed manual transmission and Window CE-based touch screen system with navigation. What remains common in both the variants is Ciaz’s incredible fuel economy rating of 20.5 kmpl.
