Like any car available for purchase, however, the BYD Han EV naturally has its own set of strengths and weaknesses. So, what are these, and are there any crucial ones buyers should be aware of? Let’s find out here.
Pros
Impressive powertrain
One of the most attractive qualities of the BYD Han EV is its powertrain and beefy battery.

At maximum, its dual-motor, all-wheel-drive system can generate up to 510 horsepower and 700 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque. With the said kind of oomph, the all-electric ride is capable of accelerating from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in just 3.9 seconds.
Moreover, the Han EV’s 85.4 kilowatt-hour (kWh) Blade battery provides it with a range of 521 kilometers (km) according to the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP).
When it comes to topping up its battery, the Han EV comes standard with a CCS2 port and up to 120 kilowatts (kW) of direct current (DC) charging. With the said fast-charging capability, the BYD-made sedan can increase its state-of-charge from 30-80 percent in just 30 minutes.

Additionally, the vehicle comes with several components that enhance its handling capabilities.
One example is the DiSUS-C, an intelligent system that can actively adjust damping to improve ride comfort, stability, and handling. The aforementioned supports the vehicle’s front MacPherson strut and rear multi-link suspension systems.
For extra stopping power, the BYD sedan model also has Brembo disc brakes and calipers for all four wheels. The discs on its front wheels are drilled for better performance and heat dissipation.

Wide array of creature comforts
Unsurprisingly, the BYD Han EV gets a lot of creature comforts and driving-related amenities.

Everyone inside the vehicle is cooled by an automatic climate control system. The aforementioned has its air output kept fresh and clean by a particulate matter filter 2.5, CN95 filter, and an air ionizer.
Mood inside the vehicle is likewise improved, even on dark, hum-drum days, thanks to the presence of a sunroof and an ambient lighting system. Additional interior lighting is also positioned inside the Han’s footwells, door handles, and glove box.
Regarding its seats, the BYD Han EV comes standard with leather upholstery and carbon fiber inserts. The ones positioned in its front cabin get ventilation and power-adjustability, whereas its second row seats have a power reclining feature.

Taking charge of the BYD Han EV’s on-board entertainment and navigation needs is a 15.6-inch rotating infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The said screen is linked to a 12-piece Dynaudio speaker set, while devices inside the ride can be topped off using a 12-volt accessory outlet, a wireless smartphone charging pad, and USB ports.
The BYD nameplate’s infotainment system is further supported by over-the-air software updates, a voice assistant, 4G connectivity, as well as access to BYD’s Cloud Service-based smartphone app.
Available for the driver of the BYD Han EV are the following features:
- 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster
- Push-to-start button
- Rain-sensing wipers
- Leather-wrapped steering wheel
- Tilt and telescopic steering column
- Drive mode selector
- Electronic parking brake
- Heads-up display
In addition to its standard lineup of safety gear, the BYD Han EV also has a comprehensive suite of advanced driver-assist systems. The aforementioned is comprised of adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot detection, lane-keep assist, and lane departure warning - among others.
Stylish looks
As a top-of-the-line BYD nameplate, the Han EV, as expected, wears an impressive-looking exterior that the Chinese marque obviously optimized for aerodynamics.

But apart from its air-cutting silhouette, the five-seater luxury sedan also sports a lot of exterior elements that further enhance its day-to-day usability and drivability. For its front end, it was kitted out with sharp-looking adaptive LED headlamps that also come with automatic on-and-off functionality. The aforementioned are seamlessly integrated with its LED daytime running lamps.
From the bottom, the car’s pointed front nose is capped by a shapely front bumper adorned with plenty of large air ducts and vents, which, apart from aerodynamics, also provides extra style and ventilation for the sedan nameplate. It is likewise topped by a sculpted hood that opens up into a reasonably sized front trunk.

The side section of the vehicle, meanwhile, gets a fair amount of character lines. It doesn’t come with exaggerated wheel arches or the like, but it has some measure of chrome on its window line, as well as a set of flush door handles. At the rear, the model boasts a full-width LED taillight and an eye-catching rear diffuser.
Completing the appearance of the BYD Han EV is a set of 19-inch alloy wheels, which were bestowed with an attractive but functionally aerodynamic design.

Cons
Lack of rear folding seats
One clear weakness of the BYD Han EV is its lack of folding rear seats. Sure, the model’s trunk can already swallow up to 410 liters, but having fixed rear seats will severely hamper its versatility, especially when hauling larger cargo.

Nevertheless, the aforementioned amount of space for the Han’s trunk is more than enough for grocery-getting, or short out-of-town sojourns.
Final thoughts
With respect to how BYD specced and designed the Han EV, it will immediately become apparent that it was set up to impress. It boasts plenty of comfort and practicality-oriented features, a comprehensive safety kit, and, more importantly, a peppy powertrain.
As such, we can safely say that it is well worth its P3.113 million price tag. However, buyers should be aware that getting some seat time with a vehicle they’re eyeing will always be good practice. After all, you are spending a hefty amount, so you’d really want the car you’re purchasing to fit your tastes.
