Here's what to enjoy inside the BYD Tang EV's cabin

During the starting stages of BYD’s growth in the Philippine market, one of its impact-making offerings was the Tang electric vehicle (EV) - a mid-size crossover sport utility vehicle (SUV) belonging to the marque’s “Dynasty” series of products, together with the Han EV sedan.  

Currently, it remains one of the brand’s most powerful all-electric nameplates, thanks to its dual-motor, all-wheel-drive setup. 

At maximum, the said nameplate can generate up to 510 horsepower (hp) and 700 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque. By having front and rear motors, it also has an all-wheel-drive system.

Supplying power to the aforementioned is a 108.8 kilowatt-hour (kWh) Blade battery, which, according to the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicles Test Procedure (WLTP), can provide the Tang EV with a range of 530 kilometers (km) from a single full charge. 

Topping up the BYD Tang EV is done quickly via its direct current (DC) CCS2 charging system. Specifically, it can take its state-of-charge from 30-80 percent in just 30 minutes, when using a compatible EV charging station. 

Additionally, the BYD Tang EV wears an attractive and well-proportioned exterior equipped with driving essentials, which include, but are not limited to:

As one would expect from a flagship mid-size SUV, the Tang EV boasts a well-equipped interior that’s designed to provide the utmost in comfort. 

For starters, its seats are clad in Nappa leather, and many of its interior surfaces are either covered in soft materials or polished decorative pieces. The ones positioned in the front cabin get power adjustability, coupled with lumbar support, leg rest, massage functionality, heating, and ventilation. 

Meanwhile, the second row has four-way manual adjustability, while the third row comes with a 50:50 split-folding feature for added space when you need it. 

Keeping everyone cool inside the BYD Tang EV is a triple-zone automatic air conditioning system equipped with a negative ion air purifier, as well as particulate matter 2.5 and CN95 filters. 

Additionally, the BYD-made model's interior maintains a sunny and bright atmosphere, thanks to its panoramic sunroof and ambient lighting system. The all-electric SUV also features lighting for its door handles, front cabin footwells, glove box, and luggage compartment. 

For on-board entertainment, the BYD Tang EV comes standard with a 15.6-inch rotating touchscreen display paired with a 12-piece Dynaudio speaker set. The vehicle also has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth connectivity, a wireless smartphone charging pad, and numerous USB ports.

Brimming with safety gear

Similar to its BYD Han EV sedan sibling, the Tang EV also gets a lot of safety gear. 

For its basic kit, it has anti-lock braking, dual front airbags, side airbags, side curtain airbags, far side curtain airbags, ISOFIX child seat anchors, traction control, electronic stability control, tire-pressure monitoring, hill-descent control, and an anti-theft system - among others. 

Supporting the aforementioned is an array of advanced driver-assist systems, which include the following:

Behind its leather-wrapped steering wheel, for example, is a 12.3-inch LED instrument cluster. It likewise comes with a tilt and telescopic steering column, a push-to-start button, an electronic parking brake, a front cabin center armrest, and a drive mode selector. 

Moreover, entering the car is made convenient and fast thanks to multiple access options, including an NFC card reader and a smart keyless entry system. Additionally, it also has remote starting, which will come in handy when pre-cooling the Tang EV’s cabin during those hot and humid days.

With the kind of in-cabin amenities it has, the BYD Tang EV counts as one of the more luxurious all-electric SUV models in the Philippines right now. Plus, it has a peppy all-wheel-drive powertrain and a considerable amount of cruising range. 

So, for buyers looking for an emissions-free ride with a few compromises, the said model will prove to be an attractive option. The aforementioned is especially true, considering its relatively accessible price tag. 

Buyers keen on taking the BYD Tang EV home, however, are encouraged to take it out for a test drive first. Sure, the EV nameplate sounds great on paper, but having seat time with the vehicle will surely make for a better car-buying experience in the end.
