Omoda E5: pros and cons

Here are the benefits of owning the electric crossover

Omoda E5: pros and cons

Omoda Philippines launched the E5 crossover not too long ago. On that note, several people are still curious to find whether or not the model is worth spending their hard-earned money on.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • What powers the Omoda E5?

The Omoda E5 uses a single electric motor.
  • How much power does it make?

The electric crossover makes 201 horses.
  • That said, we will take a look at some of the pros and cons of the nameplate, to help car buyers make an informed decision before they decide to splash the cash.

    Pros:

    Modern looks

It’s pretty obvious to see that one of the appeals of the Omoda E5 is its looks. The vehicle has plenty of straight lines and aggressive angles that help it achieve that sort of futuristic appeal some of today’s car buyers are looking for.

The fore boasts a pair of sharp-looking daytime running lights and blocky headlights, while the wheels offer a fashionable-looking design. The rear has a fastback or shooting-brake-ish look.

    Futuristic interior

Likewise, the same vibe can be expected from the Omoda E5. Its cabin is fitted with a dual screen setup — both measuring 12.3 inches. Audio is sent to an eight-speaker Sony sound system.

Other amenities include a wireless charger, ambient lighting, and an intelligent voice assistant.

    Peppy powertrain

Propulsion for the Omoda E5 comes from a single electric motor with 201 horses and 340 Newton-meters of torque.

In addition to having peppy numbers, the electric powertrain also provides owners with benefits due to the implementation of the EVIDA law, such as exemption from the number coding scheme.

    Cons:

    Limited range

The Omoda E5 does have a fairly adequate range of 430 kilometers. While it may be enough for some city driving and even a quick getaway in some areas outside the metro, it may still cause some considerable inconvenience and anxiety to those who are still new to electric car driving.

While hybrids are indeed a different species altogether, some may still pursue this electrified segment as they are easier to drive around, given the current status of the country’s charging infrastructure.
