Passenger POV: Here’s why the Subaru Evoltis is a good car for ‘passenger princesses’

The Subaru Evoltis is the Japanese carmaker’s entry into the country’s sport utility vehicle (SUV) segment and is touted as a true seven-seater that performs well on both city streets and rough provincial roads. 

On that note, the brand’s local wing invited Zigwheels Philippines to experience what the nameplate has to offer, especially those who prefer to take the back seat. 

That said, here are some of the features that make the Subaru Evoltis an ideal “passenger princess” car. 

Captain’s chairs 

The Subaru Evoltis comes standard with full-sized captain’s seats for the second-row occupants. 

As one would expect, the opulent seating offers generous head and leg space, allowing for a more comfortable riding experience. 

The author boarded the second-row seats carrying a small satchel. Due to the spacious seating, I was able to enjoy the trip, having the option to conveniently place my relatively medium-sized bag on my lap or on the flat floor —  all without feeling cramped. 

While our destinations were not exactly far, the Subaru Evoltis’ captain’s chairs have reclining and sliding functions to suit the passenger’s preference, which would make its occupants feel comfortable even on longer journeys. 

And while we’re on the topic of seats… 

Leather upholstery

The seats of the Subaru Evoltis are finished with Nappa leather, which not only gives off a luxurious feel but also offers added comfort. 

Its upholstery hits the sweet spot between plush and firm, plus the perforation on the leather allows some level of airflow to help cool one’s back and bottom. 

For those who will be traveling with their tots, the leather-swathed seats mean easier maintenance as spilled condiments and small bits of travel snacks can quickly be cleaned without the help of a professional detailer. 

Dedicated AC vents 

The Subaru Evoltis has a three-zone automatic air conditioning system (with an anti-dust filter) with dedicated vents for those taking the second- and third-row seats. 

Conveniently placed alongside the SUV’s reading lamps, the louvers helped combat the harsh highway heat as our group made our way through noon-time traffic. 

Cupholders aplenty 

The Subaru Evoltis comes with plenty of cupholders, ensuring that every passenger has a place to stow their beverages. Here is where one can find them: 

• Two on center console 
• Two behind center console box
• Two on each door 
• Five on third row 

Further, the SUV has charging ports on every row, so the passengers’ gadgets can also be juiced up while inside the vehicle. 

Large panoramic sunroof 

A large panoramic sunroof ensures that passengers can feel closer to nature should they take the Subaru Evoltis on their vacations. 

Measuring some 54 inches, the said feature allows ample natural light (for those cabin car selfies) and gives an open, airy feel that can make driving in the provinces more enjoyable. 

Infotainment galore 

The Subaru Evoltis packs a vertically-oriented infotainment display that measures 11.6 inches. 

It has wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto, ensuring that smartphone integration and the use of relatively useful navigation and music streaming apps are convenient. And since it has wireless connectivity, even second- or third-row passengers can be in charge of mapping the route or selecting the playlist for their road trip.  

Audio is blasted through a 14-speaker Harman-Kardon sound system, which delivers decent sound quality.
