2016 Honda Civic to go Manual in its Hatch avatar

MANILA: Were you a part of the massive manual transmission aficionado group that was constantly complaining of a missing stick-shift option in the 2016 Honda Civic lineup? Well, we have got good news for you. The all-new Civic Hatchback, which is scheduled to be uncovered at the upcoming New York International Auto Show, will be equipped with the highly awaited manual transmission.

Patent images of the 2016 Civic hatch were recently leaked on the Internet, which showcased a stripped version of the prototype model that was originally unveiled at the recently concluded Geneva Motor Show 2016. In addition to the missing green fog lights, dual exhaust tips,front and rear diffusers, the production-spec Civic hatchback is expected to house smaller wheels in order to appeal to a much larger audience.

Under the hood, the hatchback will get the same 1.5-litre turbocharged engine, that is offered with the Civic Sedan and Coupe variants. But the difference lies in how this power mill delivers its grunt to the front wheels. In addition to the CVT unit that is offered on other Civic body shapes, the hatchback will be getting a 6-speed manual gearbox too. This, according to auto-experts, will make it a lot easier to ensure that the turbocharged Civic 2016 is spinning in its dense power band, to extract maximum performance from its block.

So all you tarmac scrappers out there, get ready to lay your hands on a rare combination of a turbocharged mill mated to a manual gearbox, with Honda's reliability acting as the final detailing touch. Looks enticing, isn't it?
